Absolutely awful today and in fact most days, runs and runs with no end product. Useless player, can't believe I'm still watching him play for us.

It's worrying that after the millions we have spent that Hill, Derry and Mackie are still in the first team.

I can't believe what I am reading. We gave it a real go today and the change since Hughes is phenomenal. The players picked gave it their all.
He did win us a penalty and a few free kicks. Thought he was more wiley than usual today, he went down when it was beneficial to us for him to do so. If we'd got our targets M'vila/livermore would have started for Derry and Odemwingie/crouch for Mackie.
Your opinion is your right.. but Mackie created the penalty and at least two other dangerous free kicks... He was very very busy. He may not play when Zamora is fully fit and if Remy ever gets fit...but till then, he is the best we have and I for one is glad he is fighting for the cause
No Mackie is not a waste of space, but he's never going to score a bag full of goals. Works his socks off for the team. Interesting that there are no negative comments about Taarabt, who I thought had a shocker!
Mackie huffs and puffs but is generally poor. He did work very hard to get the ball back etc, but he isn't enough up front. Loaning out Cisse was a huge mistake imo.
I take your point but it was only a mistake because no one else came in. We are placing a huge responsibility on Remy's shoulders. That comment was in no way meant as a criticism of Tony or Harry, I know they tried to sign more strikers.
I really do not understand this discussion about Mackie - what about the rest of the team. Apart from Townsend who had a good and created several chances nobody impressed me at all. Looking at AT - he played very sloppy again and the amount of free-kicks he waisted is unbelievable. Unless Remy is not fit who else should play upfront then ?
Whatever we think of individuals and the effort they put in i think as fans we need to start thinking and preparing ourselves for life in the Championship. We are simply not good enough to be a premiership side. 2 wins since last April or 9 months says it all. Down for the players to prove me wrong and if we stay up it will be the double the miracle of staying up last season.
Mackie is a trier , nothing more noting less. His attitude is first class and will run and run for 90 mins. But saying that he is not good enough for this league. Plain and simple. His first touch is awful, running off the ball is terrible and i have never seen him get his head up to try and bring others into play , or deliver a decent cross. To sum it up i took my 6 year old to seem us against stoke last year , and he said ' why does mackie keep on running into Huth, we doesnt he run past him or run somewere else' I couldnt answer his question as that is all makcie does. head down and run. Some supporters love that, others like players with more ability. There will always be divided opinions on this guy.
We are an average championship side with a few quality players. Thats all. Derrys/Hills/Mackies.etc are tryers but are just not skillful enough or quick enough for this league. Cisse should not have gone.as Mackie is now Cisse's replacment.
Mine WAS a criticism of Harry. Should never have let Cisse go whilst keeping Bothroyd and DJ. Make no difference that we didn't get anyone else, Betty and DJ aren't a patch on Cisse imo.
