The end of the transfer window and Danny Fox's inclusion in the starting XI against Manure means that he is very much in MP's plans at least until the summer (probably as a back up LB). Ok, the guy didn't have a great start to the season but he is nowhere near as bad as some fans think he is and he played an important role in our promotion last season. He is a Saint for the forseeable future, so lets get off his back and stop the unfair vilification of him on the basis off a couple of bad games at the start of the season.

Who's hounding him..? I haven't seen the deluge on here. I thought he had a pretty fair game against ManU. Pleasantly surprised me slightly, in fact.

BTW, FLT. I think the Fox/Hound pun was intended.

Oh, and Parcelforce have given me a Red Card..! :)

Agree - I'm perfectly happy with him as a backup, just not a first choice regular starter.

I haven't hounded him and haven't seen him hounded, didn't think he had a great game against United seemed 2 yards behind Welbeck all the time and thought Yoshida had to keep coming across to cover him.
Can't comment on his other games because haven't seen them.

I think Fox is more than good enough at this level, I would prefer to see Shaw starting when poss but there may be times when Fox will play instead.

I think he had a good game against Man Utd although Shaw also looked good when he came on. Many players had a bad start to the season but they have all come through it, Yoshida, Hoiveld, Fox, Boruc have all improved since their first few performances.

I do wonder if there is any scope for having Fox at LB and Shaw at LW? What do you think?

Fox is a more than adequate back up at this level. Of course, Shaw is now first choice LB but Fox is good enough as cover for him, as he proved on Wednesday.

Which Old Trafford were people at? The cricket ground by mistake? Fox was off the pace in the first half when we were under pressure, and looked OK second half. Rodriguez did a good job of tracking back, but it was Jay's "foul" (she fell over!) that led to the second goal. Jay would have known that Fox was not there. This is not "hounding" him. He would not have started, I believe had Shaw been fully fit.

Fox delivers a mean ball into the box, and is OK. No Saints player should be hounded, in my view, unless they don't show any effort (all current squad are thus exempted). I totally agree that the lad doesn't merit the abuse he gets from some fans, but let's not pretend he was good on Wednesday. He was average. Shaw is better.

Have to say fox was poor at old Trafford. Gets tucked far too narrow all the time

I would still like to see Fox playing at LW if, say Lallana is unfit or goes off. He would have to be under strict instructions to cover for Shaw when Luke goes forward though.

Fox's position is really bad he's ment to be a lb not a cb. I always used to defend him on here and with mates specially last season. At Old Trafford he was very much our weak point, to many times he drifted in allowing so much space for Utd.

I'm happy with him as back up until the end of the season, after that I feel he will be sold. Targett will either impress in pre season training and be given a chance or we will bring some one else in.

He plays the same as he doe's in defence, drifts inside and never comes back out. Yes before someone says I know Lallana drifts inside but at least he returns to his position.

I would never 'hound' a Saints player, if they're in the starting line-up come kick-off I'll support them like any other.

Having said that, Fox is definitely not good enough to hold down a starting line-up place in the Prem IMO.

He constantly stands off of wingers inviting dangerous crosses in to the box, rarely gets a tackle in and frequently seems out of his position.

The upturn in our defensive fortunes coinciding with Fox's departure from the first team says it all (and whilst part of the thanks is owed to Cork's efforts), Shaw has outperformed Fox by a country mile at only 17!

As I said, I will support the guy from kick-off to the final whistle but I would be disappointed if he is still our backup come the start of next season.

He doesn't have the pace required to be a full back in the Premier League. You need to do a damn sight more running at this level because of the quality of wingers.

His biggest asset is his ability to deliver a killer ball to the forwards, which you can use to great effect in the Championship. However, that just doesn't work in the Premier League.

Where is the hounding?, hounding is when people keep on. As others have said as long people don't slag of players at the game it's ok. I pay enough money into Saints to be able to have and say a opinion on any player I want thanx.

He's rubbish. Not good enough for the premier league.

Every time his name appears on the team sheet I worry. This isn't hounding, it's blatantly obvious that he can't cut it.

I somehow think Foxy wouldn't have got caught out playing the Wigan scorer onside today, not because he is a better player, but because he has been around the block a bit longer than Luke, who will have learned a lesson today and I bet he is doesn't repeat the mistake.
