Agree 100% with that. Was going to say the same myself. All went wrong in the final 12 inches at the front! Sidepods don't seem to sweep in as much as some we have seen. They stay quite wide and tall for a long time. Very forward rear wing element also interesting. Looks like its a concerted effort to change the areo balance.
I'm slightly worried that Mclaren and Ferrari seem to be copying old designs and features. You can bet your last penny on Red Bull having moved the goalposts when they unleash their new one
Yeah, but Ferrari went for an extreme, aggressive approach last year and it didn't turn out great. Plus, Red Bull normally focus on evolution themselves, and I think that's the sort of approach McLaren and Ferrari want to adopt.
Yup the RB9 wont be that different to last year, I would also consider them the best team when it comes to evolution designs.
http://f138.ferrari.com/en/#/video Pat Fry (technical director) "Most of the car has changed subtly, some bits more than others" "I think we were helped to some degree by the changes we made and the way we organised the design office so that we were in a better position to keep working on last years car and still be in reasonable shape for developing this years one. The biggest thing is the aerodynamics side of things, we started two or three months later than would be typical, and we've got a lot of catching up to do" "The launch car will have a few different parts for the second test and then another big upgrade for the third and final test so there'll be lots of changes coming through" "We're trying to improve our pitstops further, we've made some changes there. Hopefully we'll be able to take another couple of tenths off the time" "In terms of the launch car we've done a good job on the mechanical installation, the design of it" "We can't hide behind the fact that the car in it's launch form aerodynamically is a long way off where we are in the wind tunnel now, so I think we'll get an idea of what our ultimate performance is come the third test"
Lol Italian journalist is actually attacking Alonso with why he isn't going to be at the first test: Andrew Benson ‏@andrewbensonf1 Amusing moment in Ferrari presser. Respected Italian journo said he'd been critical of @alo_oficial's decision not to do first test cont'd Followed by... Andrew Benson ‏@andrewbensonf1 "Convince me what I said was stupid," journo says. @alo_oficial - big smile, pause for effect, "I've got nothing to say on that point." Ferrari might "love" him but I'm not sure about the Italians themselves...
But that's the media, if we were measuring popularity that way then someone like Kimi would be considered the most unpopular driver which he clearly isn't
Looks way better than last years launch car... Don't like the black though. If they wanted black, should have done it on the wings only.
Personally I like the look of all the cars so far. And the noses in particular are more aesthetically pleasing than most seasons... Maybe I'm alone on this
You're not alone, I feel the same way actually! All the cars have looked great so far. Here's to hoping the other teams can turn out some nice looking cars as well!
Liking the new darker livery. Car looks pretty tidy too. At least it doesn't look like it's made from Lego this time.
The only way to put black on a Ferrari. please log in to view this image Hope link works, posting from phone.
