Good to see more of the younger lads coming through. Its time we look to replace the likes of Cole, Gerrard and Lampard, they cant play forever.

Any England winning his 100th cap would be a major event.

However, despite Cole being almost the complete left back, most people really don't like him.

If I was the England manager I'd let him win his 100th cap and then allow Baines to cement his place in the role for the next two years.

I see there's nine English players in Gordon Strachan's first Scotland squad too. <laugh>

I wouldn't really say there's a lot of young kids coming through, but it is time Gerrard & Lampard were replaced. As for Cole, he's only 3 years older than Jagielka, so a new LB would be the answer on that one. Is Walker a LB?

Hence the term "younger". Our youth system is still buggered.

You seem to be really down on youth set ups?
The FA to be fair have just invested millions into grassroots and facility's at ST George's Park.
The youth today have better facility's , set ups and coaching then any generation in History.
The fact the premier league is full of foreign managers and coaches is something the FA can't do much about.

They can invest as much as they like, its too little too late for the current generation and the generations gone, there simply isn't the quality of youth products coming through the English ranks.

You're right, the FA cant do anything about the managers\coaches employed in the PL, they can put restrictions on the number of home-grown players in a match day squad though. Of course, they wont.

No doubt the work which the FA have put in recently will come to fruition in the next 10 years, but that doesn't help us now, and has nothing to do with this thread.

Ashley Cole is the only world class player we have had for the past decade. He should be much more liked than he is.

I personally think he should've called up Le Fondre (not to start, just for the bench) or Hooper.

Also, Baines is now England's no.1 left-back. Give Cole his 100th cap, then finish it. Have Gibbs and Cole as backup for Baines

I've been saying that Hooper should get a call-up for the best part of 18 months. I don't agree about Le Fondre though.

I don't think anyone questions his footballing abilities, the reason he's not liked is because he's a total ****.

Ashley Cole is still the best all round left back in the world. It doesn't matter to me what he does off the the pitch.

Goalkeepers: Matt Gilks, David Marshall, Allan McGregor

Defenders: Phil Bardsley, Christophe Berra, Gary Caldwell, Grant Hanley, Alan Hutton, Russell Martin, Charlie Mulgrew, Lee Wallace, Andy Webster.

Midfielders: Charlie Adam, Scott Brown, Chris Burke, Kris Commons, James Forrest, James McArthur, James Morrison, Matt Phillips, Robert Snodgrass.

Forwards: Steven Fletcher, Ross McCormack, Jamie Mackie, Shaun Maloney, Kenny Miller, Steven Naismith, Jordan Rhodes

That's the full squad, I can't be arsed to check which the English ones are, I just saw it on Twitter earlier, along with someone else claiming only three of them play in Scotland.
