Not strictly F1, but it's JPM so it's ok <love>

He recently won the 24 hours of Daytona, and from I read was crucial in the victory, along with Villeneuve he is one of the 2 active drivers on for the triple crown of motorsport (Monaco/f1 world championship, le mans 24 hours, indy 500). If he wants it he could be only the 2nd man to do it!

I can think of 7 of them: Alonso, Massa, Raikkonen, M. Schumacher, Barichello, Irvine, Alesi?

Big fail by McLaren, they claim to give their young drivers "the necessary funding to ensure career development" but Tom says "Red Bull offered me the funding to support my racing, but McLaren couldn’t offer that. So it was quite straight forward. Also, if you do well Red Bull will look after you. If you do what they expect of you, you’ll make it into F1. They’ll at least give you a chance."

Seems that rumour of McLaren scaling down it's F1 program for it's car development isn't far off it looks. McLaren are trying hard to get away from Mercedes engines and become self sufficient.

McLaren's young driver programme has never been as extensive as Red Bull's though, I am sure RBR have signed up a lot more drivers down the years when compared to McLaren, although I can see why Red Bull would be more attractive considering that they have a team dedicated to running drivers who come through the programme
