I doubt it'd be at a loss but I don't think it'd be much profit either. I also believe we were probably trying to sign a winger as well but more than likely failed
The point being made is simply that GFH hasn't spent any extra cash. Money has been freed up by loans, terminations and some cash for Becchio, and it's been spent on wages for a freebie, an incoming loan and a player-swap. It's a shuffle of the pack, it isn't any kind of serious investment. The question to ask now is whether this squad is good enough to catch up on those in the playoff places.
Surely the question to ask is has your squad improved? If yes, then you can have no complaints as the last 4 windows that did not happen
I'd have to say yes as well... It's been a far better transfer window than the past few seasons and I'm quite happy. Like mentioned, the only thing we are missing is a pacey winger (or 2) but we have a chance to fill that gap in the loan window (which again, I hope we have a better one than in recent seasons!) I don't think I've ever agreed with Josh's posts more than what he's said on this thread
---------------------------------------- 1. That a player has gone from one club to another one dose not necessarily mean that they don't pay some of his wages. We have sold players before and had to pay some of their wages. 2. That is right. Any player we release form contract we have to buy out 3. That depends on what the clubs have agreed on
YEP is stating we did inquire about about burke but nothing too formal... Who knows whether this is down to time running out, other targets or financial reasons. "A tentative enquiry by Leeds for £750,000-rated Birmingham City winger Chris Burke came to nothing and United are not thought to have tabled a firm bid for him."
Is it true that Habibou has been allocated squad number 22? Someone's got a sense of humour if that's true!
Birmingham make me laugh. Saying all their players are available for transfer (because they are ****ed financially) then rejecting every offer coming in apart from 1 for Butland haha
I'm sure you'd still agree that this shuffle of the pack has left us potentially better off, unlike previous windows where we've sold star players and the money has gone missing, we've brought in inadequate replacements and ended up worse off. It's clear to me that GFH are spending any money they do have on keeping the club running while they cut costs like "unknown costs" and Yorkshire sodding Radio.
We'll know in a few weeks if we're better off. Whether we've off loaded rubbish and signed quality on three and a half year contracts or signed more rubbish on ridiculous contracts. One thing for sure, pressure is on Colin to produce as he's said he's happy now with squad. No more inept performances I presume
We'll see how we do once we get a winger, but with a main striker who doesn't rely on wingers so much we might do better.
@AndrewHaigh: Strange that @HabibHabibou7 extended his contract at Zulte Waregem yesterday until 2016 before being allowed to join #lufc on loan
