Interesting. Every time our favourite WHU supporter would come on here, earlier in the season, I suggested he shouldn't be so confident, as I predicted Saints to finish above WHU. The laughs and giggles I got from him, yet WHU are doing what they always do in the second half of a season. They're just following their traditions.
Was just browsing this site, http://weekendfootball.co.uk/analysis/form.asp?l=1&season=13&formtype=&gamescount=16 While playing around with the form table I was surprised at who was bottom of the table for last 16 games, no wonder they are getting worried. 11 Sunderland 6 2 8 21 23 -2 20 12 West Brom 6 2 8 22 25 -3 20 13 Southampton 4 7 5 18 18 +0 19 14 Reading 4 4 8 19 28 -9 16 15 Fulham 3 6 7 20 30 -10 15 16 Aston Villa 3 6 7 14 33 -19 15 17 Wigan 4 3 9 19 30 -11 15 18 Newcastle 4 2 10 21 30 -9 14 19 QPR 2 7 7 11 20 -9 13 20 West Ham 3 4 9 15 27 -12 13
Sorry did format the table to look right, but alas it turned out like this, easier to go to the site.
Reading fans must be starting to sniff a chance of survival. They looked doomed a month ago, but you wouldn't write them off now. Villa are in real trouble, and QPR are now so ****ed, they're letting Redknapp mortgage their future in the desperate hope of buying a miracle cure.
Huge win for West Ham today, stopped the rot and probably only need 3 more wins now. Norwich at home was exactly the kind of game QPR need to start winning if they are to stay up. I still think they are doomed. Villa losing 2 points in the 90th minute should help demoralise them even further. Reading...anyone getting deja-vu from last season. 2nd in the form table now...I hate to say it, I think they are staying up. I think our game against them is going to be very decisive. Wigan - Saw absolutely nothing from them today that suggested they have enough about them to stay up. They were very lucky. Saints - got to stop being draw specialists! My picks after today:- QPR Wigan Villa
I'd say that this is the day that West Ham and Newcastle can start forgetting about relegation. That's not to say they should suddendly start relaxing, but they should certainly both be looking up the league now. The likes of Stoke and WBA are treading water, so there's a top half finish for them to target. As for the rest of us, basically nothing has changed. Draws for us, Wigan, QPR, Norwich and Villa, and a home win for Reading. As I said elsewhere, this is going to go right down to the wire. Still no obvious one candidate for the drop imo, let alone three. Although QPR do need to win fairly soon.
QPR really will need something from their next two, both difficult matches in Swansea away and Man U at home. If they're stuck on 16 points with twelve games remaining, they'd need one hell of a finishing kick.
I suggest you don't get too confident yourself my old chum. And for those saying West Ham might go down. It was never gonna happen and today will end any lingering doubts I'm sure.
With Reading on unbelievable form, could well be 4 if they carry on, the odds aren't good but we are in the best position of the 4.
I wouldn't say Reading are in unbelievable form. Good form yes, but I still believe we finish above them fairly comfortably.
