January transfer window is a bad time to buy players. We've done a lot better out of it than we normally do. The only thing that's annoyed me is that we've lost yet another player to those ****ing inbreds.
I most certainly believe that Tonge, Warnock and Morison have all been first choice targets. If you include Hall as well as he was a target before the window then you have 4 players there. I genuinely believe Morison was a target before Norwich came in for Becchio and it probably was more a coincidence that we were looking at one of there strikers as a replacement. And as I said, my only dissapointment is that we didn't sign a winger but who knows maybe we can sign one in the loan window, definitely not ideal but maybe we can get Thomas back for the remainder of the season now he realises he isn't gonna play for West Brom
I'm a bit disappointed at the fact we haven't signed a winger. Burke would have been ideal and he was available at a decent price.
And plus Ristac, your annoyed because we didnt sign CMS who does not represent value for money in anyway whatsoever, is 28 and has no premier league experience when Morison does have premier league experience and who have very similar records in the division except Morison is a better physical presence
No not annoyed mate, I don't rate him that highly, just posing a question, from CMS to Habibou, just making a point. You see, 12 months from now there will be LOTS more fans calling for GFH to go. We are blinded by the **** that was Bates, yes GFH are better but only ever so slightly, you wait and see. As Dom Matteo said 'if you are looking to add a striker to your squad why would you sell your top scorer - Warnock has made no secret that a striker was priority, so we have effectively gained Habibou on loan and Warnock on a free...
Just to let you know, Habibou has a better goalscoring record at Zulte Waregrem than Mackail Smith does at Brighton. Admittedly it is the Belgian league but a lot of good players have come out of Belguim recently
Just to remind you I don't rate CMS that highly, just to remind you I was making a point about Warnocks targets and questioning Habibou first choice and he has already had a trial with us as well as Brighton and West Ham who saw nothing in him. I will never believe this guy was Warnocks first choice, not even 2nd or 3rd
I'm going to stick up for your new owners here Morison was on £16k per week at Norwich and Warnock £40k per week at Villa - even if you have knocked them both down to £15k per week that is still a substantial amount to spend in this league for a team whose crowds have halved in size
You don't believe Villa are subsidising wages? Nunez released Rodgers released Pugh loaned Kisnorbo loaned Taylor loaned Rachubka loaned Thompson loaned Connolly loaned I think those wages will more than make up for it... Remember, we couldn't offer Becchio £20k a week because of fair play rules
Out of those I don't think any will have been on anything remotely substantial, bar Kisnorbo and Pugh. Connolly would've been on fairly average wages, and the rest would've been 2-4k tops. Taylor and Thompson probably aren't even on 1k each.
Well as I forgot to add Becchio at around £15k so Becchio is virtually a swap for Morison and the rest would more than make up for Warnock If we were not upping Becchios wages from £15k Warnock will be on less, well our contribution less. Gray is another I forgot
Well QPR where using him as a backup choice to Loic Remy who is a class striker. I'm not stating that Habibou will even be first choice here but I wouldn't say he wasn't one of Warnock's first choice for Leeds. He will add strength in depth, doesn't matter whether he was first choice signing or not if you look at it that way anyway And just to point out CMS was back in the summer, we don't even know if we were even considering him in this window. I just think your trying to be negative personally
They've subsidized his wages by giving him away - do you think they'd give a player to another club and still pay some of his wages?
NEVER!!!!!!!! Which club would be foolish enough to do that?!?! EVER?!?!?!? Just think, instead of being lumped with 40k per week for a player outside their 25 man squad so cannot play anyway (I believe), why would they get rid and only pay 25k per week?
Some points for your attention, Ristac: 1. Warnock signed for us on a free. He is not on loan, so we have to pay 100% of his wages. 2. You seem to be assuming that all of the released players freed up their salaries. Wrong! They would have negotiated payoffs, costing us a minimum of 50% of their outstanding pay. 3. I think you'll find that we're still paying wages to all of the players loaned out. They're all expensive, relative to where they've gone, so we'll have had to substantially subsidised the loan ourselves. Standard practice (like you suggested was happening with Warnock, coincidentally!).
