Agree about Sharp, but Hammond wasn't exactly setting the world alight and I feel the Prem would be too far for him.
He may not have caught anyone's eye, but trust me he more than contributed his bit to get us promoted.
By all means he certainly did. I like Hammond, he did his steady job correctly, but as I say, the Prem would be too far for him. The prem just isn't suited for his type of midfield player, and Schneiderlin-Cork came in and created a brilliant partnership.
Hammond asked for a move apparently...he wanted to play and could see his chances would be limited here. Great guy and I'm sure our promotion was one of the highlights of his career, though he probably knew he wouldn't play much. I would have kept Sharp...he would have been a decent impact sub...I think he had to leave to balance the books after the signing of JRod and Ramirez...I bet Nigel would have kept him.
@First4Transfers on Twitter: "BREAKING: Southampton accept £34m bid for Lallana from Barca but Lallana declines contract as he doesnt want to embarrass Messi #saintsfc"
I agree, Cork and Scheiderlin are by far our best midfielders. He just could have been good back up to help us see out those tougher away games if we're trying to hold on to a result. I'm not saying he's definitely good enough, I just think he could have got the chance.
No more business for Neil Warnock - who appears to be a bit pre-occupied.... please log in to view this image
I think he also wanted first team football - yes, he probably would have been backup here with the odd chance here and there, but Hammond wanted to move for first team football. Adkins saw him as a backup, he had the chance to move, as Fran said above. Fair play. In other news, this gave me a laugh:
Apparently QPR refused to let Obenwingie into the building, saying they wouldn't show WBA such disrepect. Good for them, but the player has really painted himself into the corner.
This on BBC: Dan via text: "Strong rumours I've heard from member of medical team at Southampton that manager Pochettino and chairman Cortese want to sign a big name and have offered former team mate Riquelme, who's a free agent, an 18-month deal." I'm assuming it's not you Mr Nice because the Dan who made this comment is a complete moron!
They can't. Really, there will be a reckoning there, whether they stay up or not; this doesn't simply commit them to leaking money this year.
