No, you're just highlighting that you lot were out of the title race by February.

    As usual.

Wrong. Law's goal far exceeds any other if only because of the consequences of it.

BTW Matth is wrong you do have twatfish in Wales they are more usually called Swansea supporters!

By that measure there's pretty much no good players in the world. Ronaldo and Messi have no better record than Rooney in big games - the only final goals Messi has scored have simply added gloss to the final scores or have scored when his team have been completely dominant. He's never turned around a big game when Barca have been struggling - completely anonymous in 08 vs Utd, 10 vs Inter and 12 vs Chelsea, not a single goal in those six games when his team really needed his leadership and the goal would have been crucial. And we all heard the same "never did it in the big games" about Ronaldo when he was at Utd.

As for Rooney's record, winning goals in the 06 and 10 League Cup finals, and the winning goal in the 10 semi vs City. Winning goal in the 08 Club World Cup final, winning goals in 07 in the CL semi final first leg against a superior Milan side, the only goal we've scored in CL finals against Barca, the away goal against Bayern in 10 that would've been crucial had he not been injured, and the away goal against Chelsea in 11.

He's also the highest ever scorer in the Manchester derby, which is particularly impressive given his first few years at the club City were still in the Championship, and he's scored pretty much all his goals against them after the takeover when they became our main rivals. Also first player to 150 goals in the PL and has the second highest average goals plus assists per season in the PL (after Henry).

As for being overrated, that all depends on what rating you listen to. Utd fans no more believe he is the "white Pele" than Liverpool fans seriously believe your third best striker of the last twenty years is "God" - that's just banter. I think most Utd fans would argue that he is one of the best players of the past twenty years at consistently scoring goals, creating goals and contributing to the success of the team, and also one of the best players at continuing to make contributions even when he isn't playing well.

Only in your small, Utd obsessed mind. It should be clear to any objective person that if you're going on consequences then Kompany's goal last season is the most significant. A goal that decides the PL title and gives City their first title for 40 odd years is infinitely more significant than a goal that results in a club spending one season in the second division, particularly given how well we bounced back from it.

I did mention in an earlier post that you'd be good with this argument. I now consider myself more educated on the subject of Shrek. Still don't like the little ****er though.

I can't say I like the little ****er either! Certainly wouldn't invite him round for dinner, not without investing in a chastity belt for my granny anyway. But as long as he keeps getting 20+ goals and assists in the league each season I'll be happy with that!

I've said it before, but it still says a lot that in a season when he's been largely injured and off pace / form Rooney still has 16 goals plus assists from 13 PL starts (16 games), despite being the support striker to RVP. Compare that with 20 from 23 starts for Suarez and 24 from 21 starts for RVP (24 games) and you can see why we rate him.

Now Now don't throw your toys out of the pram sonny! Law is/was a United legend. He not only played for City but he scored the goal that eventually relegated your club WITH A BACK HEAL.

Gity's win last year may have made them more money but it doesn't even compare with the history Law made that day.

In no way am I United obsessed - the sooner your club disappears up it's own arsehole the better.

The fact you can't see the irony in that claim is quite laughable. Almost as laughable as your attempt to spell heel.

And I fail to see how Law "made history" given we'd been relegated four times already prior to that season. Unless you're somehow claiming that our club is so big that even its relegations are among the most important events in English football history? In which case I guess I'll be forced to agree <ok>

By five points if I recall correctly?

But yeah, that goal made all the difference <laugh>

Other results that day had meant it didn't matter what happened, yeah.

    One of footballs great myths.

The other being it's their year next year!

Thought I'd post so both sides can abuse me instead.

Saw something vague about rooney messi ronaldo, the only reason rooney should be in the same sentence as the other two is if the sentence is Rooney should not be in the same sentence as Messi or Ronaldo <ok>
