Reading the Rory Smith Webchat: He says that LFC have a deal/offer in place for Isimat-Mirin but won't progress with it unless Coates leaves either on loan or perm.
In France maybe but not anywhere else, everyone knows who he is and has more money than he will ever need. He doesn't have much time left in football (playing wise) so you would have thought he would want to actually play!
He's a good player but they seem intent on bringing in players like Bentley and jenas, on top of all the players they already have and can't get rid of (and odemwinge wants to go there as well ) it's a massive gamble. If they don't stay up could be a recipe for disaster. They must be paying a fortune in wages already now another £100k on samba.
QPR wage bill must be massive I would say only Gerrard's, Carragher's and Suarez's wages are above 100k. If QPR go down it could turn into another pompey situation.
FFP doesn't apply to them as they are not in European competition. Staying in the Premier League is worth more to them then the wages they'd paying paying out.
I don't buy all this 'what a great professional, he just wants to play football'. He left to go to America when he was still relatively young. (Sorry Bluff) US is not the place to go to when you're still at your 'peak'. Smacks of chasing the dollar and living the high life - played in Manchester, LA, Madrid, Milan and now Paris. Talented young French defender
I think Reina is clearing £100k a week as well. This is a reason why we may be looking to get rid of him.
Although 31, I agree he had two or three quality years in him. His mrs does definitely influence him though.
At the end of the day, I don't blame him for wanting to play in such locations and for those clubs, and ultimately earning a lot of money - we would all love to do it. But I just cannot accept all the arse licking and I certainly cannot accept people calling him a world class player.
I think he was world class at one point (my definition of world class is a player that would make a world team squad). It is ridiculous that he still carries that label though. Same goes for the talk about David Villa at the moment, pundits etc referring to him as world class is a bit far fetched IMO, he was a couple of years ago but he's 31 and he's had some serious injuries recently.
Sorry mate but I cannot accept that. He was never world class. Slow on the ball, no skill, no pace - he did have a good range of passing but only if he static and had no pressure. Dead ball specialist I don't think it's a coincidence that he joined Real at their peak but then only won 1 La Liga in 4/5 years with the club. And to think, Barca were also interested in signing him but thankfully, they got Ronaldinho. Those two transfers pretty much highlight the difference in class and ability - Ronaldinho = World Class, Beckham =Average.
sorry bar a broken leg there is no reason why villa is not still world class. I agree beckham is not world class and has not been for about 4/5 years
sky reporting that Doni contract maybe cancelled by the club. is wages an issue with him or something going on we don't know about?
