Pochettino post-United on SaintsPlayer: http://www.player.saintsfc.co.uk/la...00/page/0/name/Pochettino:-We-Deserved-A-Draw
Oh i didnt mean to sound like i though we didnt play well, like you i watched the whole game and thought we were great, but as you said due to our final ball the highlights made us look like we were outclassed. Made the commentary sound funny, they were heaping praise on us but there wasnt much in the way of chances
Shearer made a good point...there is no sign that the team won't play for Mauricio. Cortese felt they wanted more leadership and a player said there is an aura about MP. Lallana mentioned that the manager switched things round at half time...so no communication problems there.
Thought Davis was a lot better than previous games. We were excellent today, Jos is too slow and not good enough at marking. Yoshida was excellent, schneiderlin was superior in the 2nd half. Lallana looked quite good except he is terrible at pulling the trigger, probably the worst thing about today was him leaving rickie's knock down. Fair enough he has been out injured but he has a long history of taking one touch too many, of course today he was too scared to take any touch. Really hope he sorts himself out in front of goal as it's his weakest area by far. Love having pochettino as manager very exciting times ahead. Thought our fans were decent aswell
Ahh fair enough. I wasn't having a go, just was assuming (wrongly), that you had only seen the highlights and didn't want you to think that we hadn't played well.
I'm sure your stats are correct, and I'm proud of how saints played, but we cant deny that Utd looked a lot more dangerous in the final third. The problem was, for all Saints endeavour, we blustered a bit in the box. Rickie wasn't firing, which didn't help. ps - did I mention how much I hate Adam Le Fondre? He looks like a little weasel.

We should have scored with all those chances. You can get one game like that, but will give concerns if it happens too often...especially as most of us thought attack was where we didn't need any strengthening. Nice goal from JRod...was quick to take advantage of a defensive error.
We are not clinical enough for sure, however we are not creating enough 'clear cut chances'. Our final ball was not good enough, which is a shame because every other aspect of our game was so good tonight. But Lambert in particular is not getting enough opportunities to attack the ball in dangerous areas.
Still think we need two players at least. I wide man and another striker. He if rickie gets injured then we will struggle for goals big time.
I'm already liking Pochettino's approach. I bet his translator also likes having less to say all at once, too. Interesting that there are some transfer irons in the fire, and that some players have to make a decision about leaving as well.
Have to give a bit of credit to JRod for that goal tonight, although it was officially the most cowardly goalkeeping I have ever seen. He took that chance very well, would have been very easy to fluff it wide.
Could you imagine our Artur being so cowardly? NO! Is the answer. He'd have got the ball, the man and everything else whilst he was at it.
I agree . Have to start scoring , other wise the nerves in the team MIGHT start to show.... Still a long way to go .
I'm worried about our attack too, I thought we were dreadful going forwards against United, we had a lot of pressure on them and a lot of good opportunities to score and we didn't take advantage. I understand that we were trying to keep possession and keep the ball off United and just plug away, but several times we let them off the hook when we had concerted pressure on them and in their box, and then we'd kill it off by limply knocking the ball around on the half-way line unnecessarily. Our crossing, long-balls, corners, just our deliveries in general were absolutely terrible and as a whole we wasted a great opportunity to take something from United. In our last 11 games we've scored more than 1 goal only twice, and in that time we've lost 3 games all by 1 goal and have drawn the other 6, we've had great platforms to take points but our attack has let us down I feel. Hopefully Adam coming back (I thought when he came on we were so much livelier and whenever he was on the ball was when we looked the most dangerous, seemed to have no rust on him whatsoever), and a few easier fixtures will see our goal-scoring prowess return because I fear if we keep drawing and losing games we could take wins from it could catch up with us in the end.
