Kevin Kilbane, BBC Radio 5 live Everton 1-0 West Brom "That's typical of Leighton Baines this season - a wonderful strike. He set himself nicely and got a little bend on it, with such power. I recommended him to Everton when I was at Wigan. He was in the process of going to Sunderland at the time, so I'll take a little credit there. He's a top player." Nice one.
He was not a popular player, I liked him because we beat Derby 2-1 and he scored the first for us. I had a bet on 2-1 Kilbane first goal at 77-1 so I loved him. Others did not.
I remember when Baines turned us down. I also remember when David Nugent and Chris Baird turned us down.
was liked at Everton. Even more so now. Probably why Kilbane guided him towards us considering you guys didn't like him at Sunderland.
Killer was simply one of the worst footballers to play for us in recent times. Great attitude, loads of effort but utterly ****e on the pitch. Baines is not the only left back available over the last 7 or 8 years and its more a lack of managerial foresight than this ex players sales techniques in question. Mon has rectified this inside 5 months with Rose.
If he had of come to us instead of Everton, he probably wouldn't be the player he is today, if truth be told.
Kilbane was a decent player who was destroyed at Sunderland by the same morons (he told a couple of the crowd a few home truths), who will destroy McClean, Graham (if he comes) and Sess if they get the opportunity.
