At this point it would be a good idea to get any new signings in the Summer, 1 or 2 out wouldn't hurt though.
Didn't really expect anyone else. Hopefully in the summer he'll be able to shift out some more of the deadwood, and bring a few players to give us a bit more of a presence. Looks like QPR are splashing out 12.5M on Samba. I hope they go down.
That's good to hear, he picked a weak back four and in the FA Cup our strongest team should have been picked. Anyway what's done is done he's learning himself I suppose at least he's had the balls to accept his mistake.
Sorry, calm or no I disagree. Suarez got less effective the further we sat back. He can't do what he did in the first half from front to back constantly all match & yet weirdly proving my point on another thread he did the job asked of him brilliantly. Its just not the job we want to see him do (2nd half) if everyone had his nuts we'd be fine. I'm not having a go at Carragher because like Suarez he did his job but he was forced into looking good because the entire team (as you say) sat back and put him in that position. I'd rather he only had to make the odd last ditch tackle. I'm sure if you asked him he'd agree! Yet again and can we all note: without Allen, our midfield was non existent without the ball. And with it, Downing & at times Henderson (not slagging H much because he's improving every time i see him)slowed up our "counter attack" so much there was no point doing it. I understand waiting for support but that doesn't include 11 of the opposition. And amazingly in a half when we did very little breaking forward (the usual excuse for the following) our FB's ball watched & remained static time after time after time. I'll sympathise when they're chasing back but not when they're camped in our 18 yards!!!!! So everyone can use Allen as a stick to beat BR with. I think its more fundamental. He hasn't figured out how to defend without the ball & how to bring the ball out when we somehow get it back. I know Reina is suppose to be a sweeper but what happened tonight showed why they stopped allowing a keeper to pick it up!!! We are still (excluding Agger ) the same static nonsense in set pieces that makes us more of a risk to ourselves than the opposition both I'm our box & theirs! Anyway; nothing that isn't expected, obviously haven't actually calmed down at all.
Can't really disagree and I'm not even going to try [/QUOTE] Ach: I'll probably disagree with myself by morning lol.....
Just like to say...girrouds (spelling?) dive...will he get lambasted for it? I think not because his names not suarez.
...and Podolski was looking for a pen after running into Wisdom. Diving scum them goons. Gutted not to take 3 points after playing so well for an hour but a point away at the new library I can't complain at. Agger should have done better for both goals for me but we invited so much pressure second half it was untrue. In the end we could have lost it and that would have been a crushing blow. Basically it's pretty much as you were (apart from the bitters fluking a win) so on we go to the next one. Let's hope for a better performance against ****ty than we've had in recent years.
Arsenal were near enough full strength too, City won't be. We need to make the most of them not being in full strength, the only thing is that if we win it will probably hand Utd the title
Agger was caught under the ball for the first but Johnson/Lucas both left Wallcott when he ran into the box for the 2nd (Johnson went to man out wide and Lucas went to Cazorla on edge of the box) leaving Wallcott free. Agger was marking Giroud and then had to rush across to try block Walccott so can't blame him for that one.
Just got in from watching game in the pub and can't be arsed reading back, sorry. Before the game I would've taken a point so I'm ok with that, but having been 2-0 up I'm disappointed we didn't win (obviously). I really don't like defending a lead by sitting back, especially when you're not good enough to do that. We surrendered the midfield completely, and though I'm satisfied with the point, I really hope we don't play that way too often.
He was on his heels when the ball came into Giroud. Fine margins I know but top level footy's all about that. Granted the first one was a worse mistake but the ball would never have reached Walcott if Agger had got a foot in ahead of Giroud (who's hardly the quickest player around). Anyway I'm not complaining too much, **** happens and there was a fair few positives to take despite letting the lead slip. Reina looks back to form, Henderson had another decent game too and at least we didn't throw the game away completely.
One minute PS...if I hadn't have been honest and pointed it out, you would have taken the change in prediction regardless too!
Will go with the majority - would have taken a point before the match but we cannot let a 2 goal lead slip through our fingers. I actually thought the first half was tactically spot on and for once, we looked solid in defence and we broke well. Then we just kept inviting pressure and struggled to keep the ball. Wilshere is one hell of a player and I hope Coutinho can offer the same threat. Downing was solid - defended well but not much going forward. He seems to slow down the attack every single time and Henderson can be guilty of that as well but I thought he was very good on the whole. Also, I felt that Lucas was rather static at times. Now that we have boosted the front 3, I think Rodgers really needs to work on the midfield now - a real enforcer (physical presence), a younger version of Gerrard (can spray the balls, start attacks, retains possession and gets stuck in), a more experienced version of Henderson (box to box). A lot of work required but I like the direction that this club is going in. Onwards and upwards.
OK, having slept on the result and performance.. I’ll add that – 1 – Before the games @Arsenal and @MCFC, I’d have taken two points, so, as far as I’m concerned, we’re half way there. 2 – Before the game we were 7pts of 4th and still are, not saying we’ll get 4th but we’ve not harmed our chances with yesterdays result. 3 – Game of two halves, whilst they had loads of possession in the 1st half, we had the better chances and on another day, could have been 2 or 3 up at half time. 4 – Credit to Arsenal for their 2nd half performance, on the balance of play I think draw was a fair result, always thought, and said so to those watching the game with me that after we scored the second, we needed to take the sting out of the game, we didn’t and conceded almost straight away! 5 - Can’t fault the performance by the team, Pepe looked back at his best, don’t think he was to blame for either goal, defence was well marshalled by the old dog (life in him yet!), Lucas looked a bit off the pace but that’s to be expected after is long term injuries, not even going to have a go at Downing, whilst he didn’t play great, I don’t think he had a shocker, but I do see him moving on in the summer, money from that and the Carroll deal should go towards getting 3 decent additions, CB that can play at LB, DM and a winger, F9, 7 ¾ type of player! 6 – I think we’ll have a bit more ball against City and if their defence isn’t at full strength (No Kompany), then could see another goal scoring draw, can’t really see us winning there. 7 – Always rated Hendo, good to see the boy improving, keep improving lad and you’ll be a very valuable member of the team for years to come!
