    Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told BBC Sport: "[Winning] is the name of the game at this stage of the season. For the first 30 minutes I thought we were fantastic, we played really well.

    "But in the second half Southampton have been the best team to play here this season. We were fortunate to win the game.

    "We found the pitch difficult to play on. Southampton won a lot of 50-50s as our players looked to take a touch. We watered the pitch before the game but once it dried out in the second half it became difficult.

    "We are not going to sign anyone tomorrow."

    Its scary how massive the wigan game is, a win and we are looking rosy, a loss will probably mean fan backlash and the table not looking so pretty. Im scared already :(

    We are liking what we see. Think we will get edgy if we lose to Wigan, but can't see a fan backlash...still a lot of games to go.
