In my umble opine we still need a decent seasoned striker unfortunately we have little in the savings tin unless we wish to break the rules similar to Swindle. Benson has gone for the money fair play given his age most lower league players with a couple of years left would have done the same. COR
Im obviously over thinking things here but this is what I believe that happened.... JW was waiting on O'Toole to decide if he was staying or not. Benson would have taken a big chunk in wages. If O'Toole was staying then we wouldnt be able to afford the wages for Benson due to the wage cap. If O'Toole wasnt staying then I think JW would have converted Parkes to CM to replace O'Toole and have McChrystal and McDonald at CD with Woodards and Lockyer as cover for CB. Then use Clarkson as the 'experienced' striker on his return. So now O'Toole has decided to stay, no room for Benson wages. Apparently Benson did have talks with us. Thats my take on it anyway.
