Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Moses, Marin, Piazon, DeBruyne. We were also looking at Taison - Seriously, whoever is doing the "planning" for our squad needs his head examining. If Abramovich makes his signings based on advice from the likes of Emenalo etc, then they need to be fired and fired NOW. If anything good comes from the Benitez signing, it will be that once he goes, it may force Abramovich + board into a cathartic moment of realisation that you just can't a football club in the way they have been doing for the past 8 years - managers have to be given reign to build squads and play players to their own liking, not have vanity signings forced upon him. Shevchenko - downfall of Mourinho Torres - downfall of Ancelotti, Di Matteo Doesn't take a genius to figure out the lesson in these stories. Until there is a total change in management strategy from the very top - from Roman - it won't matter who is in charg, be it Rafa Benitez, Jose, or Guardiola, it will always have the same unhappy outcome.
Once Morhinho was sacked -we lost someone who nobody was ever going to replicate! RA spent a lot of time and money trying, but he should have quit when we landed Ancelotti and left him with the "thank you" for PL and FA Cup success, by giving him a longer run! The mad obsession with the CL trophy, having finally been landed by Robbie, still wasn't enogh to keep him in a job, and as a result has alienated any manager worth appointing to the job!
Emenalo needs to **** off he got fat boy his job from what ive heard he's also pulling every trick in the book to make fat arse keeps his job into next season.
i agree Carlo was a great manager won the double in his first season and had a great record against the top 4 to boot sacking him was nonsense.
How do you think this is bad planning? Looking at it now the only bad planning appears to be loaning Paizon. DeBruyne appears a better prospect than Marin but that's hindsight. I was excited by Marin when we signed him.Still looks like he's struggling with injury to me.
NO, Shevchenko was Roman's signing, Maureen didn't want him at all, Maureens downfall was the Dutch prick who took over the youth policy therefore undermining him.
This is terrible planning the same way that we are now being linked with Jack Butland - Birmingham City goalkeeper. What about Courtois? There is having competition for places and then there is buying players just because they are good, with no thought as to how these players may fit in and complement the squad, long or short term. It smacks of 'Let's get as many small nimble clever players in as possible' without any consideration as to what system these players will be used in. In a few years we'll have 7 players competing for 3 positions, in midfield, but what about the striker situation and defensive midfield? what about additional cover at left back and right back? It's shows lack of vision, and like Championship Manager on my PC.
??? That's exactly the point I was trying to make! It's largely subjective what lead to Mourinho's exit, but being forced to play Shevchenko was undoutedly a large part of it.
I see your point but not sure I entirely agree. 7 players competing for 3 positions is not unheard of really. They say you need 2 top players in every position to compete on multiple fronts so that's 6 for 3 positions. Plus factor in that Oscar can play deep, Moses up front and Marin will probably be gone in the summer anyway. De bruyne and Piazon are still very young and we'd be lucky if both became good enough to become first teamers. The idea was clearly to build the attacking part of the side around nimble players barca style. The big issue is the striker situation. Had that 50 million gone on Aguero or we'd got RVP, I'm sure we'd be doing better. At full back we have Ivan, Azpil, Cole, Bertrand and Ferreira plus loanees like Van Aarnholt and Wallace to come in the summer. That's pretty decent if you ask me.
I just think we have too many players for certain positions and not enough for others. We have far too many attacking midfielders and defensive midfielders but not enough creative ones or wingers.
No more attacking mids. Bring back Lukaku and promote Feruz. Get a controlling CDM, and buy a new CB. That's all the squad needs. Every other position is covered well if you look at what we have.
De Bruyne is the same age as Hazard and is better than Oscar. He shouldn't have been loaned imo. Also, don't forget Hutchinson and Kalas on loan.
Yeah but Hazard was considerably further down the line than De Bruyne in terms of experience and progression, particularly when you factor in the decision to loan him was made last summer. Personally I don't think we should have bought Marin if it meant De Bruyne going out on loan but no one could predict he'd move so seemlessly from a **** league to a good one. How many people were slagging of Lukaku's performances last year but look how good he looks in a lesser side where there is less pressure and he gets more minutes. We'd never have given De Bruyne enough time to progress as he has at WB. It remains to be seen whether he is better than Oscar, but Oscar has performed well in the C.L and for Brazil and is probably 'potentially' the best footballer at the club along with Mata. Kalas granted, Hutchinson I can't see ever playing for us again, which is a damn shame.
I don't intend it as a wum, but does it concern you to have so many on loan, that won't ever get the chance to make it there. I know, you don't want to have an influx of young English 'talent' like we do at Liverpool. I'm just intrigued.
not bothered what nationality a player is. Why should it concern me? They won't be playing here and they're getting valuable game time elsewhere. Only players we shouldn't have loaned are McEachran and De Bruyne in my opinion.
