    According to talk sport....

    Sunderland are set to lose out to Lazio in the race for Sporting Lisbon defender Bruno Pereirinha.

    The right-back has been tracked by both clubs this season but the Serie A side are now poised to triumph in the race for the signing.

    The 24-year-old is surplus to requirements under Sporting's head coach Jesualdo Ferreira and has failed to make a single league appearance for the first team in Portugal's top flight this season.

    Lazio are prepared to pay £2m for the full-back while Sunderland, who kept a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw with Swansea on Tuesday night, will have to look for defensive reinforcements elsewhere
