We went in Trog Bar one night on the grand opening of a new carpet (well they opened the doors anyway) only for my mate to have too many from the can bar (we hardly ever went to the main bar, is was so much easier getting a few cans instead) and before long he returned the afore mentioned carpet back to its original sticky state..... Our Route started off as : Punch Empress White Horse Cheese Bass Shire Dram Shop then finishing the night off in Trog Bar. Saturdays would often not finish at Trog but a short journey to Romeos was normal then walk back home as i was using the manger of Midland Banks money by then anyway... We did alternate through the years but this was how we started off.
The Victoria Coffee Club building recently burnt down - the forensics thought some vagrant was inside the remains but turned there wasn't - now demolished and part of the Travis Perkins timber yard on Clarence Street. Was Gothenburg Coffee Club on Little Queen St Wasn't Ocean 11 the name of the dodgy Club on Witham that is now a bar next to Jack Rabbit Slims? Nearly went in there many moons ago but dragged out by a mate and thought better of it.
Gothenburg was on the corner of Dagger Lane and Prince Street, if I'm remembering right. The one in Little Queen Street - Gondola? Club on Witham was Oceans 11
Ye Olde Black Boy promoted itself as the oldest pub in Hull, it's been a pub since at least 1729 and was first recorded as being called Ye Olde Black Boy in 1748.
Anyone remember Chavaliers restaurant opposite Ye Olde Black Boy ? I used to know the Chef, and also had our college Christmas party in the upstairs function room. Its been an Irish Pub for some time now. I also remember going in Reflections next to Queens. I'm suprised that hasn't had a mention. Used to go in Cellar Bar occasionally on a lunch time from college. Only ever having enough money for two halves, so i would drop one of my grandma's Solpadeine tablets in the lager and drink it as quick as i could, before it exploded. Happy days.
What was the name of the pub in the old town where cockfighting took place and was supposedly the last place in Hull where this occurred?
Ocean 11 was indeed a shady club - just set back slightly from building next door that became Jack Rabbit Slims. Was owned by the Olivers back in early 80's - they went onto buy Waltham Club down Norfolk St that became Blue Lamp. I have fond memories of the old Rugby pub - just down the alley on George St after Dram Shop. Pokey little place but had a fantastic selection on the juke box. Was demolished in the 80's to make way for the much larger pub of the same name.
Gondola coffee house / dirty bloody rockers .. Yup Gothenburg was off the market down prince street , some nice women use to go in there I often called in to see genesis p orridge who lived on prince street . A rather strange hippy who always had a nice cigarette to smoke and quite a nice girlfriend Could never get in Manchester Hotel.. I was thinking of centre bar down the little alley

Manny Arms has an oar pinned to the wall with writing on it, and it claims on there to be the oldest pub in Hull. Can't remember the year, but I've read it a few times through squinty, drunk eyes.
Wasn't the Rugby always in that spot? - there was another one sat alongside Rugby (the other side of what is now an alley to George Street) - think it was Theatre Tavern - demolished to make way for the Norwich Union office block on the site of Fields Cafe.
