So... we're entering the last 48 hours of the transfer window and thus far I think it's safe to say we're all rather happy (thus far) with the way things have gone on the transfer front.
As we enter this final phase do you think there will be any more incomings or outgoings?

Personally I think we will see Sammy, Fergie and Tavernier, plus possibly Streete join championship sides to gain valuable experience.
I think that the club are holding off releasing the players because they want to make sure there are no senior squad players leaving first (a la Mandy)- but I don't think we will see any departures.....

I'd also like to see Ranger go out on loan with a view to eventually binning the waster in the summer.

I believe we will sign a striker too (just don't know which one).

How do you see things panning out?

I think it's highly unlikely we'll do anymore business now, unless we're selling players. Value for money afforded by dwindling contracts is replaced by panic-buying over the odds in the last couple of days. Not our club's style. I think if Cisse gets injured we're in trouble, but alas...

Also Shola, if you're reading this, I love you, but please retire at the end of the season.

This season everybody is saying Shola is ****e.

Yet a few seasons ago, before we had gotten Ba, Shola was our only striker. He was EVEN LESS fit than he is now, and he strolled a lot more and yet people say that "he holds the ball up" and that he "was a decent backup striker".

After that season or so, he improved his fitness, yet always seem to get worse as the season goes by. I believe it should be an issue where he can't maintain his fitness through the season. But that's not the point anyway, if he's ****e now, I can't understand how some of you guys still thought he was good during that stretch where he was totally unfit , but was our only striker.

Don't we wish Best was our backup striker instead of him?

I think it highly unlikely we'll add to the squad now, although I'd love another striker, would be surprised if we lose anyone, other than players going out on loan, I think we'll be pretty much done.
We seem to be getting a lot of press one way or another about our new signings, but the press have quickly forgotten how our lack of signings in the Summer has added to our woes this season, so to me it's only made up for a rather dismal summer transfer window.

Whenever Shola's contract was up for renewal he always put the effort in
once he got his contract, he resorted back to being the lazy twat he is

Maybe some of us always loved him for the fact that if he can play in the premier league there's still hope for us <whistle>

At first I never rated best however as time went on my view changed he never let us down
And his work rate was superb, the lad had more to give and I would still have him here

Me too... He actually proved to have quite a bit of potential as well. He was way better than Shola, even if the Mackem Slayer can have ridiculous moments of skill and precision.

Strong, fast, decent finishing, I think he'd have been useful til retirement potentially. However, we don't know if he demanded first team football, or the physios knew of some existing condition, because he was injured as soon as he left.

He was always likely to get injured, he'd put his head anywhere to get it on the ball. Quite a nice guy off the field too, met him and his partner shopping in Gateshead once. Got a nice smile and a nod from him.

Loan signings can carry on til mid-Feb, I think, perhaps later. That would seem to be our only outgoings...though I believe £1m will be enough to see Simpson leave, as we aren't going to agree a contract with Debuchy, Raylor and Anita on the payroll.

I still think we need something else up front. Last night's first half was excellent and I would hope that we will persevere with that for longer in games, but if we do need to change it and bring on a second goal getter, is it fair to put that on Adam Campbell? Ameobi for me is nothing, he invites both hoofball and concession of possession. And that's all of our options. Gouffran and Cisse up front may be ok, but I just think we could do with bringing in someone to push Ameobi out further. He's like Willo - a capable enough 4th choice Carling Cup player. Rumours of a renewed Siem De Jong bid. That would be delicious.

To me, what last night demonstrated was that we have no cover for the attacking right side midfield role ( hence presumably why Jonas played there).

If we're going to continue with 4-3-3 in Ben Arfa's absence we probably need an option there rather than an out and out striker. Too many times we had the ball but no forward pass on as only Cisse was in the box and covered by 2 defenders.

I would love some more signings. Sky sports are saying we're trying to wrap a deal up for siem de Jong. I'm worried that too many signings and we'll end up like qpr last season!

When Shola came on last night he literally did nothing. Just as it went into injury time he attempted some sort of skill just inside our half and lost it and it just summed up how ****ing **** he is.

I would like a striker to come in and I would love us to offload Ranger and put Sammy out on loan.

Would love for a all-round 'utility' forward player (R V Wolfswinkel not only as it will give everyone a dilemma as to what to get on their shirt...Sissoko or Wolfswinkel, tricky choice there)

Have a feeling we are finished for the window however.

Hope to hell no last minute carzy bids in for HBA/Cabs/Krul.

As I keep saying we need a forward the issue with cisse he goes missing
And can't hold the line, second half I was more use then he was.
Cracking player don't get me wrong but
Defensively he is pony ie tracking back etc, and If he got injuried we are screwed
24 hrs to save our season

We need a striker!!! if Cisse gets injured we go down with the Ameobi brothers!!! what makes that worse is that they will then be our striker force in the fizzy pop.

I bet Sammy would rip the championship a new one to be fair. Rather not see that though....
