Scharner left West Brom at the end of last season and took in a trial at Eintracht Frankfurt before signing a two-year contract with Hamburg. However, the 32-year-old has struggled for regular first-team football during the first half of the season and could now head back to England on loan. Reports have suggested that Sunderland are the club interested in signing the Austrian and Scharner is waiting to see what happens ahead of Thursday's deadline.
