Gillingham Gills.jpg Vs northampton178-34865.png Northampton Match Day Thread

    29th January 2012
    7:45PM- Priestfield Stadium

This is the Match day thread, this is where you can post your team predictions, chat before the game about the match or anything else, chat during the match and post updates on the match and also chat after the game about the score and write your match report. Also if I am at the match I will write my report after the match giving my view on the players, join in the chat and have fun.

    Team News
Gillingham have one player doubtful and that is Charlie Lee after he took a knock in the game against York City on Saturday however other than that there is a full squad to choose from which has been weakened by Jack Payne and Danny Jackman departing.
Northampton could recall Adebayo Akinfenwa to play against his old side but there is still a doubt over his future at the club after a bid was made by Gillingham.

    Past meetings
Gillingham have a decent record against Northampton of late but in the past it was not as good, we are unbeaten in our last four games against them.
    30 Oct 2010 Northampton Town v Gillingham L 2-1 League Two
    15 Jan 2011 Gillingham v Northampton Town W 1-0 League Two
    05 Nov 2011 Gillingham v Northampton Town W 4-3 League Two
    28 Apr 2012 Northampton Town v Gillingham D 1-1 League Two
    02 Oct 2012 Northampton Town v Gillingham W 1-2 League Two
The last home with was a 4-3 winner which I can remember as it was hell where we snatched the win late on in a game which we were 3-1 but threw it away but won it late on to win 4-3.

    Current league table
As of the 28.01.13 Gillingham sit 2nd on 52 points after 27 games however Port Vale are top on 53 points but have played 28 games so this is Gillingham's game in hand.
Northampton have rose up the table and are not far behind, they find themselves 3rd in the league after 28 games with 45 points which is 7 behind Gillingham.

    HOADIE’S View on this match
This is so hard to say what I think will happen but it is really important that we win this, not just because we will go top but because Northampton will get closer to overtaking us in the league and we don't want any more teams entering the fight to go up Automatically.

    The score line and scorers
The score will be 2-1 to the gills however I am not sure if this will happen scorers will be McDonald and Weston for us and Bayo Akinfenwa for the visitors.

Bayo Akinfenwa is with the squad today sadly I know that he is but can't say anymore however I don't know if he will start but I know where they are staying due to a friend that works at a hotel.

I am worried about tonight but hope the team proves me wrong I can't see us winning sadly but I still go with a win

Team for tonight if I was picking it

    Nelson

    Fish
    Davies
    Legge
    Martin

    Whelpdale
    Gregory
    Lee
    Weston

    Kedwell
    McDonald

But this is the team I think it will be sadly

    Nelson

    Fish
    Barrett
    Legge
    Martin

    Whelpdale
    Gregory
    Frampton
    Weston

    Burton
    McDonald

I think Davies should play as Barrett is off form and he is a top player also Frampton should not play as well as I think Kedwell should be in the team however if Lee is injured I don't really know what we could do other than Frampton and with Northampton they don't have too much pace so strength of Barrett and Frampton between defence and midfield may work.

My team would be in a 4-1-3-2 formation!!

    Nelson

    Fish
    Barrett
    Legge
    Martin

    Davies

    Whelpdale
    Gregory
    Weston

    Kedwell
    McDonald

But, if fit I expect Lee to start ahead of Davies!

I've removed the duplicate post. The reason it is happening is due to a fault after upgrading the server. Due to the volume of members, we would have keeled over on transfer deadline day if we done nothing, however, the site owner has tried attempted fault finding fixes with no luck at the moment. So for the time being the problem will be ongoing and I will just remove duplicates when I see them.

I think that is part of the problem where there has been work on Not606. Davies in holding midfield is what I have wanted for a while but if we were to do that we have less centre backs so it makes me wonder why we got rid of Essam as I remember MA saying that he wanted to play Davies in holding midfield and I remember one game where he done that. However Gregory is a holding midfielder and I don't see how that would work if he was attacking as he don't seem very attacking.

Is it doing what it does to me where you go to post and then it acts like it ain't posted and says leave page and makes it look like it ain't posted however I know it has posted and if it does that don't post it again my trick is that if it does that copy your message and then check if it ain't posted and if it hasn't then post it again and that will stop this problem.

Yes it occurs when it asks you if you want to leave.

I say stay on page copy it and then leave page and look if it is posted as it has always posted but just to make sure I copy the message as there is nothing worse than having to rewrite all of your message again if it is long.

Articles I always write in word first, including the prediction league format. Then if there is a problem, I don't lose the work. If I suspect something is not right, I do what you do Hoadie and that is copy any lengthy comments. Other than that it is a case of opening a second tab to see what is going on.

I always write my articles in word as I like to keep them there in case there is something I want to look back at in the future.

Just hope MA has learned from his big mistake in team selection on Saturday. Fish at right back and keep Frampton out of the starting lineup..

Start with Burton and Cody up front with Weston supporting on the wings. This will give us our best chance of getting a positive start at home for once!

Why does he persist with framps in the holding role?
