I'd put Davis in midfield instead of Ramirez, like the start of the Chelsea game. Probably go for something like this.

    Boruc
    Clyne Yoshida Hooiveld/Forren Shaw
    Cork Schneiderlin
    Puncheon Davis Rodriguez
    Lambert

Rodriguez on the left won't provide much of a goal threat, but he will put a defensive shift in, like Guly would have. After he's run himself into the ground after 65 minutes, bring Lallana on. Sorry Jay!

Ramirez is better on attack and defence than Davis....

I think MP will go for it! Tbh we have nothing to loose the best defensive is offensive :D I would like to see Lambert out on the left wing but he can drift inside playing in both Ramirez and Rodriguez.

    --------------Boruc
    Clyne-Yoshida-Hoovield-Shaw
    ------Cork---Schneiderlin-----
    -Puncheon----------------Lambert----
    -------------Ramirez-----------------
    -------------Rodriguez---------------

He's a great passer of the ball and can use shaw to overlap down the wing. I don't think Lallana will ready yet for first team action (hoping I'm wrong!)

i'll be honest i never really thought about putting rickie out wide - biggest problem i see with that though is that we'd lose his impact coming off the bench, and against united we may need that. maybe we should abduct Coutinho on his way back from Liverpool

heard somewhere that Lallana might be back as a sub for Utd or Wigan

Hang on a minute. I think we are letting our imaginations run away with things. It's simple really, yes Ramirez is better down the middle, however he has still been effective (just not as much) when he's played wide. He was the only player who looked like scoring against Sunderland and he played wide that day.

Who would you think would be more, less effective than normal? Rickie out wide or Ramriez. For me, Rickie plays down the middle and if we don't want to risk Adam from the start, Ramirez plays wide. Too many people are trying to complicate things.

Ramirez is still a threat when he plays wide.

Hmmm, not so sure about that. He hasn't been that effective when I've seen him out wide. Certainly far less effective than when he played in the middle.

Just looked on Player....first Boruc wears a scarf wrapped round his neck, now Gazza does as well. SKD is obviously having nothing to do with this foreign nonsense:smile:

Oh man, I had a sudden urge earlier to buy a ticket, but I can't find a way of getting there. Never mind.

Yes I had that urge for the Wigan game but decided against it in the end.

I like how they have their names printed/sewn into them as well as their squad numbers. Oh and their national flags.

Tom, that's what I said. He is better down the middle but can still be effective wide. He cuts inside and causes problems. Would you rather play Rickie wide? That's my main point as someone suggested Rickie playing wide.

Did you go to Sunderland game? He was the only one who looked like scoring.

I did, and no player stood out for me. In fact I have forgotten most of that game as it was woeful. I just think he's wasted if he's played out wide. Although this was no longer be a problem when Lallana returns which seems to be imminent.

Coming back to the United side - looks like Ferdinand and Vidic could be the playing - that somehow gives me confidence! Rickie will rip them apart!

Yeah fair point, fox isn't good enough at passing to be up in a counterattacking position. I would be very happy to have your starting lineup, with a lot of interchange between the front 4. As they can all play in different positions and would be harder to isolate if they were working different spaces.

Ideally I would like to have Lambert in the box at all times and Rodriguez always on the shoulder of the last man but we don't have the players to play 4-4-2 against a team like Man united so will have to make a compromise.

Def play one of our best players in his preferred position, so Ramirez no10. We have oher players that can cover the left but no one that can play like Ramirez through the middle. I would play JRod on the left before Lee every day of the week, I was just saying Lee has never had a run in the side because of Lallana and through injuries so its hard to say if he is good enough
