Top guy and a top player.

Really pleased things seem to be better than they were first thought to be and that he'll be staying.

Always been a big fan of his.

So good to hear Colo's explanation and I'm sure he'll give his all right up until the end of the season. ( unless Willo takes his place, ha ,ha ) Hope everyone is up for it tonight and 3 points come our way.
Please AP don't bottle team selection and keep Jonas, Shola & Willo away from the starting X1.

Just goes to show (like we didn't already know it) that 99 times out of 100, anything you read in the papers and online is complete and bollocks.

If I remember rightly, this is the first time we have heard from Colo himself since reports first surfaced about him being unhappy and wanting to leave etc, and this is exactly the type of information that the fans need to hear from him, so I take my hat off to him.

I would also say credit to Pardew for calming the situation down and then urging Colo to come out and speak to the fans.

This would be what has lead to today's statements to the fans.

Just read the original letter. It does say that he is sad that a move was not possible and that the demands of a contract are sometimes more powerful than hte desires of th heart.

That essentially just confirms that he had wanted a transfer if possible, which we knew.

The nearest thing to anything beyond that is:

Esencialmente deseo agradecer el enorme esfuerzo realizado y comprometido por ellos, desde todo punto de vista –y que ciertamente me consta- para allanar las dificultades de cualquier camino que me pudiera tocar transitar.

That is essentially simply thanking their management for having tried to smooth the difficulties in whatever path he might have chosen to take.

“The letter is true but the meaning of it is different once translated from Spanish to English."

Total and utter lack of surprise on my part.

    Top man colo.

Like DECOLINKS says massive props to Pardew for keeping a cool head during all of this sounds like he helped Colo out a lot.

Glad Colo has come out and given his side of the story which after all the hype sounds like the most reasonable explanation to all of this! Just sounds like missing family and friends on his kids and wifes part which is understandable. Could the club and Colo bring them all over for the last month of the season and then they would have 3/4 months of family time over the summer. Obviously not the whole of San Lorenzo but immediate family, I'm sure Colo has room to spare in his house for a few guests.

Fecking leg end! I love the bloke and while it would have been nice to have some explanation earlier, it seems that they didn't want it to get out of control. As others have said keeping a cool head has paid dividends. Nice he has come out and said his piece and we can all now move forward. Onwards and hopefully upwards!

Absolutely. Thank goodness Pardew forced him to do some damage control before the Aston Villa game.

I see no "explanation" here, and some things that seem very contrived. I could go on about what a lot of boohockey all this "missing family" stuff is, but it seems to have placated a lot of people so that's a good thing. (People are very gullible.)

Well done, Pardew. It was left far too long, but better late than never.

    I'm not gullible at all!

At least, that's what somebody told me. He now owns my house. Nice fella.

Don't think there's anything to be gullible about here - think he's been very honest - he says he puts family first and that's why he wanted to leave, I've got no problem with that. Also his personal problems are his private life, which personally I respect, so it's not as if we have a right to know, however curious we are.

Ahhh, so that's your picture next to the definition in the dictionary. Shame they couldn't find a better one to use...

    Seriously, check it out.

A good piece of PR and exactly what the fans needed to hear.
I've never had a problem with Colo though, however I still feel he should pass the armband to another player as I'm not convinced that he can guarantee giving 100% when his heart is clearly still on a move (eventually). I hope I'm wrong and that he can put his feelings to one side but he's human at the end of the day.
I don't blame him for feeling homesick, it's a natural human emotion but the club has to come first.
When he does leave I'll thank him sincerely for all of his efforts and certainly look back fondly on his time at our club.
He's a top bloke and has been a superb captain.
