The end to the Blackburn v Man U game was an absolute disgrace. Games are supposed to be played to be won and neither team made any attempt to do so. Dock them both 3 points NOW!!

Chris Coleman said about a minute before the end that the referee may as well blow this whistle now because this is like watching paint dry. He was right.

    Oh do shut up!

United didn't need to go for the win and Blackburn were happy with the point, nobody in the ground took exception to what was happening in the last 10 mins of the game.

    Now get over it!

Watch Fergie put out a second strength team against Blackpool. Watch as the FA do nothing about it.

    It's just not fair.

Chuffed the mancs have won more titles than the scousers though.

    Come on myan!

If i was a Blackpool fan i'd be pissed off because i would've wanted Man Utd to get a late winner and bring Blackburn back into the relegation battle.

Just because Blackburn and United are fine with it doesn't mean it's right. That result could send any number of teams down, that's all the original poster was intimating.

It was a bit reminiscent of Austria vs Germany in the 1982 World Cup but it was understandable. A point was deemed more important than none by both clubs so neither club wanted to risk losing.

It serves as a reminder as to why next weeks final games have to be played at the same time though.

    So, that's just life.

United cared about one thing - winning the league, not about Blackpool or anybody else.
Blackburn only cared about getting that vital point and they couldn't care less about Blackpool and why should they, they're in the relegation zone as well, every club for themselves.

If it pisses of Blackpool fans then so be it but everyone plays the exact amount of games in the season and if they go down then it because they weren't good enough over the 38 games, not because of the last 10 mins of the United v Blackburn game.

Thanks J'Taime HBA , that was the point i was making. I can imagine Blackpool or Wigan or Birmingham fans being really pissed off if they are relegated by one point or goal difference and Blackburn stay up because Man U made no effort to win the game.

Mind knowing Ferguson he'll probably play his reserves next week claiming he needs to rest his "stars" for the CL final , bit like a few years ago when they let Tevez save west ham at old trafford! Just talk to Sheff Utd fans about that one! And who did Tevez sign for after the season ended?

If the FA had any guts they would throw the book at Fergie with this most recent charge...................................but they won't!

Exactly - like you say - it's life. Doesn't make it right though, and doesn't mean that United et al shouldn't receive the same punishments as everyone else.

Has any club never passed the ball between themselves or tried to hold the ball at the corner flag?

To be fair Man U had the point they needed and they played keep ball, which is a perfectly valid tactic for a team wanting to close the game out. Blackburn though made no effort to close them down and win the ball back.

Man U can't be blamed for the fact that Blackburn were happy to let them keep the ball and not even make them work for it.

But it doesn't say anywhere in the rules that you must go forward and attack no matter what the scoreline is.

That argument isn't valid. I was only pointing out that if it'd happened to us we'd be annoyed, you can't argue with that?

You are right we would be annoyed. But having watched the Blackpool game i would add that they abandoned their usual suicidal attacking philosophy to close their game out with ten minutes to go as well (being 4-3 up). Bolton at least made them work for it but Blackpool had also stopped trying to score. So they can't argue that they don't play tactically when they have the scoreline that they are happy with.

But the point is it was an agreement between Blackburn and Man Utd to keep the score level. Bolton wanted to get back in but were closed off, they didn't agree to lose.

Of course you can come back with how do i know it was an agreement and other faults in my logic but my main point was that we'd be pissed off if it was us.

Not that any of this matters anyway cos thank the Lurd we're not involved in it.

I agree which is why I started my answer with "you are right we would be annoyed".

I was just making the point that Blackpool can hardly argue that playing tactically when you are happy with a scoreline is unfair. Blackburn were equally happy with a point and decided not to risk pressing Man U and leaving gaps at the back. Both teams (Blackburn & Blackpool) made a decision to stick with what they had and Blackburn had the easier job of it because Man U were also happy with the scoreline. But both teams stopped trying to make a game of it, if you know what i mean.

Not really, i've have played the game long enough to know that this happens. What would annoy is that we weren't good enough over the course of the season.
