He came through our academy and we played him at right back. He got player of the season in the season we got relegated buy saying that we had the 2nd best defence in the league that year. Stearman was always good for a goal

Since he signed for Wolves they have always played him at centre half but he never even played once at centre half for us as he wasnt strong enough but he has grew alot since signing for Wolves.

All round I think he will be a very good signing for you

Decent age. I'm sure I've read somewhere that he's an absolute arsehole... may have made that up??
but a right back who can do a shift as a centre back and possibly a view to a permanent deal depending on a few factors. Beggars can't be chosers so I'll take this and hope he can help keep us up this season

The script is nicely written for Barnsley to pip us to 21st place courtesy of Jason Scotland's goals.

I'm fairly pleased with this, decent player. Though not sure what he's like as a RB which I assume is why Mick has brought him in. I have to say I'm never usually a fan of players when they say he's a CB who can play RB (apart from Micah Richards) because it usually means they are overly defensive but if he played there for Leicester for a spell he must be capable. Also covers 2 positions which is a bonus, hopefully Hewitt will still get a few run outs and perhaps could also mean we can go 532 and play with wing backs which I'd like to see considering our wingers have been crap!!

Pleased with this, hopefully it is with a view to a permanent in the summer. Now we really need some wingers and creativity in the centre above anything!!

" I have to say I'm never usually a fan of players when they say he's a CB who can play RB "

Well that's irrelevant then seeing as he is a right back who Wolves chucked at CB.

Quality RB too - when Leiciester went down with McAueley / Kisnorbo etc he played RB, and they let in the second least in the league.

" Script written for Scotland and Barnsley " - Hilarious!!!!

From what I can gather though he's now more comfortable at CB than RB. And I get the feeling he may not offer us that much in an attacking sense but the proof will be in the pudding I geuss!!

And the Scotland thing is something which does concern me. Particularly because IMO the players we've brought in are of less quality and are less likely to score goals than if he was in our starting line up. I still think he could've been of value to us and I can't see why we got McLean in and let him go tbh I'm geussing it is because Mick likes someone a bit more mobile!! But I think it could be a real possibility that he could score some vital goals for them, whilst we're struggling to score!!

Another good signing, hopefully with a view for a permanent transfer, however I'm sure fee and wages will be an issue once again. Kisnorbo's signed on till the end of the season when he's out of contract so I guess if he impresses, he's the more realistic signing.

If we can find decent wingers now or in the summer then we don't need an overly attack minded RB. We need to be solid first and foremost this season because it really is only about survival.

Agree to a point SD but IMO you attack and defend as a team. Obviously the first part of being a RB is being able to defend but it's good if they can attack also. I think D Wright was one of the best because he was so solid defensively but decent going forward also without being too Cafuesque perhaps like Edwards was. What I don't want to see is our fullbacks play like they did under Keane, rarely going over the halfway line and pumping the ball in the box from deep. Orr IMO was too defenseminded or just a pretty average footballer, would like to see a RB give a little more than this going forward.

I've not seen Stearman play RB a great deal but thought he was decent at CB, so can't overly judge but you can usually tell from the style of a player if they'd be a good full back and he doesn't overly excite me as a RB but we'll wait and see. I don't want to see another Eastman situation more of a Herman one <ok>

I've heard a number of rumours that Mick McCarthy will be unveiling Alan Judge from Notts County on Thursday! A great signing if it happens and these rumours are from well placed sources at the club.

    Welcome to Town Richard.

I know what you're saying ptc but a good winger can make up for a RB's lack of attacking prowess. I like full backs who know when to overlap and when to stay put, not those looking to get forward at every possible moment, they're called defenders for a reason <ok>
