Let's hope we can make it four on the bounce and get up to a lofty second place in the league. TEAM NEWS Bristol City's Neil Kilkenny has been ruled out of Tuesday's game with an ankle injury picked up during Saturday's win over Ipswich. Ryan Taylor is definitely out after fracturing his collarbone in the same game, and faces at least six weeks out. Watford boss Gianfranco Zola has no new injury concerns and could name the same starting line-up that beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 last time out. Ikechi Anya (hamstring) and Neuton (back) are set to miss out. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • A late goal from Bristol City midfielder Steve Davies denied Watford all three points in the reverse fixture in September, as the pair shared four goals. • Watford have lost only one of their last seven Championship matches against Bristol City, and have won the last two visits to Ashton Gate 2-0. • The Robins last recorded a home league victory over Watford in March 1993, drawing seven and losing three of the 10 subsequent meetings. Bristol City • Bristol City are looking for only their second back-to-back wins of the season, after Saturday's last-ditch 2-1 victory over Ipswich, and could climb off the foot to third bottom depending on the Barnsley result. • The Robins are on their lowest points total (25 from 28) in 14 seasons, and are averaging just a point a game at home (14 from 14). • They also have the weakest defence of any league club in the country, with 56 goals shipped at two a game on average, and they are still searching for their first clean sheet since a 2-0 home victory at Barnsley on 21 April last year. Watford • A fourth successive league victory, and a fourth on the bounce on the road, would lift Watford into second place. • They are on their best winning streak since March last year, and their best equivalent points return for 12 seasons. • Gianfranco Zola's men have the best away record in the division, and are the top scorers in the Championship. They have netted as many as Bristol City have conceded (56), which averages out at two a game. • They have already scored as many goals as they managed in the whole of last season's Championship campaign.
Well done Mex - I was beginning to fear I might need to tread in the deep waters of Match Thread Formation
I am happy to still put them up. But as you can see, creativity is at an all time low due to lack of time. The main thing is we have a thread, anyone can add team news etc... ENJOY THE GAME !!
Thanks Mex, a bit like Leo I am a any port in a storm person with match threads. I should have more time, but I haven't for some reason. Not sure how I ever found time to go to work.
Nice one Mex and thanks for picking it up - 5*s from me! Going with a 1-3 win as our away form steamrollers on!
Neil Kilkenny has been ruled out of Bristol City's npower Championship clash with Watford at Ashton Gate tomorrow night. Striker Ryan Taylor is already out after suffering a fractured collarbone in the same game. The striker will be out of action for at least six weeks.
I am worried. Watford never play well against teams near the bottom of the league, except Huddersfield Town. And with Peterborough beating Cardiff and some of the other results featuring high fliers and teams at the bottom, well...
BBC Preview: Watford boss Gianfranco Zola has no new injury concerns and could name the same starting line-up that beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 last time out.
Thanks for the match thread Mex I see this game as a potential banana skin, they have a new manager and won on Saturday. Could be a tough game.
Ditto! lol...not sure i'd ever be as good! Thanks Mex Exactly this...but i'm going to go with my usual 1-3 and just hope the trip is as great as Saturday...and that we come back with 3 points
I was going to be humble and suggest that this might be tougher than the table suggests, but having heard that they are bleating about our mercenaries already I am hoping we absolutely annihilate them!!!
I was rather surprised to hear that coming from O'Driscoll... wasn't it him who had numerous loanees at Doncaster, all on low wages, to try and get them moves to bigger clubs? I would suggest that was a bit more of a team of mercenaries, and he seemed to be happy with their policy! I suspect there is a certain amount of bitterness due to him recently being sacked - not too long after the defeat at ours - and the position he finds himself now. Probably a certain amount of jealousy of our resources too. As for the game - I will be at this one, although may have to leave a couple of minutes early as have to rush to get the last train back - such a pain. Will be the second time I have ever done that (the first being my Dad's wedding day, having to get to the reception) My prediction... I will go for a 2-1 to us, and taking 2nd spot!
hope this damn rain stops soon or i can see another cancellation. On a more optimistic note i can see 3 - 1 to us. maybe more if the lads have read the O'driscoll comments. Always look forward to this game, a lift across town from Mrs Brizz, a couple of pints in the tobbacco factory then hopefully 3 points. COYH!!!
Is there anywhere good for away fans for a quick pint or two before the game, on the way to the ground from the train station? Think I am heading up a bit earlier now, so will be there by about 6ish, so might grab a pint or two and some food! Cheers
Will Zola rotate...? http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10191819.Stick_or_twist___will_Watford_make_changes_tonight_/ I personally feel we shouldn't break up a winning team. It's not as if we have a heavy schedule coming up - our next mid-week fixture isn't until the 19th of Feb! If some are tiring or we are winning comfortably, then take off a few to rest...
Good news; Bristol City FC @bcfctweets No pitch inspection planned tonight. Covers are on the pitch. Get yourself down to Ashton Gate. #BristolCity
