The Nigel's are starting to crash and burn as I said they would so you can rule them out As ever though anyone can beat anyone on any given day which is why it's the best league in the world
Cardiff fan here, I was just breezing through the different boards. If you are referring to nicky maynard in your post; He signed for cardiff in august and unfortunately, for cardiff anyway, he played 3 games and was injured for the rest of the season. He won't play again this season
I meant last January when he signed for WHU, just saying that in our current position, we may look a promising club for players, but looks as though Nigel isn't really looking.
Obviously Nige thinks we are the complete side after signing Wood. I tend to agree, but I do worry about the lack of depth of the squad. I think our first team staying injury free will make or break our season.
We cant afford injuries to Kasper, Morgan, Konchesky, Knockaert, Wood/Nugent for a long period of games. I think we could cope missing Whitbread, St. Ledger or Keane (something we have already proved) but missing Wes would be a disaster. Should anything happen to Kasper where he would miss more then 2 games then we would have to go into the loan market. As proven by some teams there isnt much quality available doing this. In centre midfield aslong as there is no long term injuries we are fine with King, Drinkwater, James and Wellens. And with Knockaert he is the ace in the pack but as we mentioned yesterday Ben Marshall hasnt really hit his standards while Knockaert has been in the team so if something did happen to Knockaert would Marshall step up like he did last season? I would still like us to get someone in to help the midfield and maybe let Vardy, Futacs go on short term loans. We still have to wait and see if Man U want to sign Jeff Schlupp. If they do want to sign him do we let him go for straight cash or ask for some players on loan aswell? Just to throw in a curveball although I can never see it Nigel could always recall Danns and Beckford. Albeit they wouldnt start they would add cover if they was needed/wanted
A straight swap would be excellent. And with SAF making the comment that Jones and Smalling will be the central defensive partnership for years to come, cant have done MKs first team plans much good. We would need to get another LB in quick if this happens though, as JS is the only decent cover for that position at the moment.
I reckon we'll see someone come in before it closes. Then again it's only a couple of weeks before you can start loaning people in again, and I think Pearson likes to get a couple in to carry us over the line. Did it with Vaughan and Spearing in that first season back in Championship, and I think he made a couple of late signings when we were in League 1, but can't remember.
