Still not 5% of London's, is it?

So, are London's gun criminals slacking off, or are Liverpool's putting in a lot of effort?

I don`t disagree with your comment about the (morality of the situation), more the fact he hung around the edge of the tunnel and celebrated so much when the penalty was missed.

Probably shouldn't have gone down the road of knife and gun crime but those who did (including me) did it in retaliation to a post from BBF. So much for the New year's resolution not to rise to it <doh>

I remember a Japanese player doing the same thing in a friendly against England before Euro '96 - which is surely an utter waste, given they were 2-0 down at the time and at the end of the day it was only a friendly. It's not like they demand footballers follow the the teachings of the Hagakure to the letter or anything...

Given the only posters who neg rep me are you and Davidako, I don't wonder at all - it's just a couple of fools obsessed with rep, which isn't a surprise given your forum has a whole topic set up for it.

And, yes, I do understand statistics. For example, 16.7 per 100,000 means that Liverpudlians are not in a position to mouth off about crime statistics in other cities given theirs are worse than all but two cities in the entire UK. Why can't they mouth off? Because 16.7 per 100,000 is much, much higher than most of the UK (only the Metropolitan Police catchment area, Greater Manchester, West Midlands, Hampshire and Bedfordshire have higher, and the last two are fractionally higher) so, by capita, there's a much bigger problem with gun crime in Merseyside than the majority of the UK. Also, sidestepping per capita and just going for hard numbers, Merseyside has a higher number of gun offences than all but Greater Manchester, West Midlands and the Metropolitan Police catchment area. Whoops!

More importantly, I actually read that Parliamentary briefing and have spotted one key fact - blatant misrepresentation of the statistics by The King in his initial post. This is what the document actually says:
    Merseyside: 599 offences
    City of London: 14 offences
    Metropolitan Police: 14,121 offences

Obviously you never actually checked the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Police - their jurisdiction spreads beyond London, and into Essex, Surrey, Kent and Middlesex. So are you saying that a crime that happened in Essex is proof of crime in London? If so, that logic means all crimes that happen in Manchester are proof of crime in Liverpool. Is that logical?

Stick to spamming the facepalm emoticon and leave the debate to adults, will you?

So now "every bit as bad" means "quite a bit less bad" <doh>

I'd also like to know the source of your 5% statistic you've quoted a few times <ok>

Incidentally, 14 offences in the City of London equates to about 190 per 100,000. 190 is quite a lot bigger than 16.7 <ok>

All this talk of knife and gun crime hasn't diverted some of us away from the fact that Brendan Rodgers' top 4 team got stuffed by a League 1 side yesterday.

    Another 10m wasted by Rodgers.

Andrea Ramazzotti, who covers Inter for Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport and has watched all Coutinho's 28 games for the club, told BBC Sport: "He just didn't show his potential in Milan. Coutinho played very well when he was on loan at Espanyol last season, and started well for Inter this season, but they were only brief spells really.

"For the rest of the time he just showed flashes of his potential and I fear the way of playing in England, which can be very physical, will not suit him, because he has a slight frame."

Better than the £87m wasted on the slight frames of Hazard, Oscar, Mata and Marin <ok>

    P.S. he cost £8.5m not £10m <ok>

He looked the business when we played Inter a few years ago, might be worth the gamble.

  18. Manchester United star Paul Scholes was left red-faced when thieves stole his car - as he left it defrosting on his driveway with the engine running.

I must admit, when I first saw this headline, I thought it was being reported in The Mouser Echo.
