MANCHESTER UNITED are considering a move for QPR shot stopper Julio Cesar. The Red Devils are growing tired of David de Geaâs error-strewn performances and have been drawing up a list of potential targets. Barcelonaâs Victor Valdes and Liverpoolâs Pepe Reina have been sounded for moves to Old Trafford, but Cesar has now caught the eye of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. They do however face competition for Cesarâs signature from the Gunners, who are determined to find an experienced No1 as doubts linger over their Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny. According to Brazilian paper Globo Esporte, United are keen on Cesar, and QPR want to cut their wage bill which could pave the way for a move. They also note that Cesar was a target for Real Madrid before they signed Sevillaâs Diego Lopez as cover for the injured Iker Casillas. Cesar has conceded 21 goals for the Hoops this season, who are marooned at the bottom of the Premier League. http://www.express.co.uk/football/view/373988?
Dont want to lose him but Id do a straight swap. De Gea is someone who could flourish under less of a spotlight and be worth loads of money in a few years time.
He won't go to Arsenal, Wenger won't sign a top goalkeeper in case it upsets Szczesny's fragile ego, he's been quoted...
I know but thats what Id ask for. We lose nothing if they fall down laughing. However we face relegation if we sell him and have to play Green.
Great keeper but not one we can afford. Might be wise to see how much they would offer. We have a growing reputation for paying ridiculous wages to get players in and are then willing to take any loss to get them out. Think Cesar would be worth serious money right now. Maybe 6-10 million!!! If we were to go down, we would be desperate to offload him and would accept far less. IMO it has to be considered.
Makes no sense getting all the other players and then dumping Cesar, we might as well have a fire sale and dump anyone on over 30k a week if we get rid of Cesar.
Agree Col - he's already here and the points he can potentially save us are worth holding on to him for another 5 months for (no matter what he's on). The defense needs all the confidence they can get and having someone as good as Cesar behind them will certainly help too.
