Why would we sell our hardest working player? And for all those that slag his technical ability, have you not noticed he's scored against Liverpool, Man City and Man U. If that's not technical ability I'll eat my flat cap!!!
I am beginning to think you and Yappy are related, as it happens your English is remarkable for someone who couldn't put 2 words together a few month's ago.
Sorry mate I was being bored whil waiting for Harry to appear at the conference so I WUM a little. Harry said he didn't get any bids for Mackie
IMO this would be a mistake at the moment....in the summer maybe....but for now we need his energy and workrate to give extra cover to Nedum on the right side....we all saw what happened at whu after he was replaced....Jarvis had far more room than previous.
We all know how hard Mackie works although we don't applaud his goal-scoring abilities. Would love to see him pushing on to the back four much more. Effort is what is needed now, which Mackie has displayed at every opportunity he's put on an R's shirt. Like others state, it would be mindless to let him go. What next sell Taarabt too and sit back and watch the season go completely down the pan!! I'll take the view that this is all speculative rubbish! I've heard Norwich are looking to bid £12m for some unknown striker called Wolfswinkel (I kid you not about the name)!
Think it's interesting that he's perhaps the only one of our players said to be leaving actually linked with other PL clubs, I think. This suggests to me that the rumours true. In my opinion, Mackie's form dipped after he was moved back to the wing after playing up-front for a couple of matches; and has continued to be poor, despite his undoubted effort, in recent games. The Newcastle game was a prime example of this: Cisse strolling around up-front and Mackie looking lost on the wing; these performances have probably been enough to convince HR Mackie can leave. Would rather keep him though.
I have skim read this thread, so don't shoot me if someone has already said this ... but ... We don't know where the "information" about this comes from. It could well be true, but equally could be false. IF true, has Harry had him in and said "If you can find somewhere else to go we won't stand in your way"? Has Mackie (or his agent) said that he WANTS to leave and he has been told he can if he wants? Has Mackie seen (or been told of) the possibility of not playing (or only being used as a sub) in the majority of games in future and wants to go to secure regular starts and been told he can go if he wants? We don't know. The theme on this thread is that he may be being forced out, but that may not be the case. Top bloke and would rather he stayed, even if it wwere only as the much mentioned impact sub.
Big big mistake if Mackie was to leave. He is exactly the player we need in the 17 months whatever league we are in next season.
I'll take the view that this is all speculative rubbish! I've heard Norwich are looking to bid £12m for some unknown striker called Wolfswinkel (I kid you not about the name)![/QUOTE] he is a good player, played champs league
Crikey i hope this is crap....link to source plz. Mackie is one of the few players i would hate to see leave our club. What he lacks in style he more than makes up for in graft, passion and energy. Every squad needs Mackies.
If he's really only valued at £3m then we'll have been swamped. People don't realise how important the guy is to our club.
His end product may be debated all over this site, (i'd be 7.5 out of 10) but he is not a parasite bleeding this club dry and taking money for nothing....ie Boswinga.
Sets a great example. Helps keep the fans onside when SWP falls over and Park does his best Bob Malcolm impression. His end product is better than he's given credit for. He's a good finisher, normally, and other than Taarabt and Remy is probably the one you'd most back to put a chance away.
I think so many people dont rate him because he is so ungainly. He scores a surprising amount of goals and is great defensively. He is needed until we get more Mackie, Derry, Hill types to set an example.
