Seeing as our fellow mod has added his four pennorth, I'll jump in as well! Hated the result on Saturday, very embarrassing but in football, sometimes, the smelly brown stuff happens!

Onto far more important things! Three reasons why I have a soft sport for the 'orns:-

    1. I like Elton John.

    2. I lived in Lincoln for 21 years and met and liked Graham Taylor, his treatment by the press was despicable!

    3. I am deeply in love with Hornette_TID! Need I say more?

Good luck with your promotion push, see you in the Prem next season! <ok>

    <smooch> for H

On the subject of hated fans, Germany's most hated supporter is the Borussia Mönchengladbach fan who starts the chant "Give me a B....." <laugh> (i'm here all week)

Just re-read your post Dan. Sorry I didn't pick up on this the first time.

    When did this happen?
Who was their manager at the time?
Did he face any punishment over his comments?

I can just see the outcry if (and I hope it never does happen) this happened now.

I know football is a very 'tribal' sport, but I really do hope we have seen the last of organised hooliganism at our grounds.
I'm not naive enough to think it can be stamped out completely. You will always get some idiots who are out to create havoc for the sheer hell of it, but when feelings are running high, then players and management surely have an obligation not to inflame things.

As a footnote, I have been a 'closet' Watford fan since the early 80s.
A very good mate of mine was a Watford nut (he even named his pets after Watford players - Luther Lizard and Ross rabbit spring to mind <yikes> - and we would both visit each other's clubs when we were free.
Those were the days when you could pay on the day, have pie and bovril at half time, a beer afterwards, a chip supper and still have change from a tenner (or should that be a tanner?)

If that was during the 6-1 drubbing you gave us the week before our cup semi-final, then serves you right! <whistle>

Good memory Bolton's Boots. It was indeed that game. The station that afternoon was not a good place to be unfortunately.

It's taken us the three years since moving here to be able to pronounce the name of our place - and more often than not the locals cannot understand it when we say it :(

Maestro - it was in 2002 and their manager was Joe Kinneer. After a day of smashing up St. Albans and then Watford, they attacked the family stand and one Watford supporter was repeatedly kicked in the head whilst he was on the ground. This is on YouTube...

I see your questions about that night in 2002 have been answered so let's leave it there!

It's like a mutual appreciation society on here - I've liked Norwich since the days of John Bond because that's when i first started watching Match of the Day. Apart from when we get beaten badly (in a footballing sense of course) I reckon your place is my favourite away day.

If it makes me sad, bitter and twisted I don't care, I do hate everything Luton, landed there to be told my mother was dead sums the place up. I would be happy to see it and its inhabitants wiped from the earth, if that means i'm subhuman sobeit but its in the dna....

not sure about sub-human - that probably comes from being Scottish - but able to go over the top - definitely :)
