Not impossible to catch Cardiff but will need both teams to pick up maximum points realistically. As for Vydra, hot streak yes, but he is the best striker I've seen at the Vic for an age, perhaps ever. There's a reason Spurs are rumoured to be sniffing around. Oh and just over 87mins/goal (and that may have been before the weekend), best in the division.

I believe almost every one of Wood's appearances this season have been starting ones. Vydra has come off the bench quite a few times (due to Zola's squad rotation)

But Wood has rarely (i'd say about half) finished a game.

Wood has made 22 appearances to Vydra's 27 (I think i'm right in saying that, correct me if i'm wrong).

I'll have a look at how many minutes Wood has played. Got a bit of time to spare and i'm bored out of my skin <laugh>

He's in my ff team and I made him captain last week as Glenn Murray's goals and assists have dried up now the nigel's are starting to crash and burn, two goals & an assist are worth 16 points doubled up as captain - so lovely jubbly

Don't be surprised if he's on the bench tomorrow night though MillwallSteve.

    I was wrong.

Wood has a goal per minute average of just over one per 100.

Vydra's is about one per 85.

Amazing the amount of times he's been dropped after scoring twice. Imagine where you'd be...

One of the reasons he keeps hitting these braces is coz Zola keeps him fresh by benching him on the Tuesday night games.

What site did you use for that info if you dont mind me asking

Literally just sat there counting through the BBC Sport reports <laugh>

There is very little in it though. Such as Wood playing the entire 90 minutes against you whereas Vydra only played a little bit.

Ah well, can't expect Wood to score that many in such a poor side <nahnah> Now he's in a proper team his goals per minute ratio is one per 48 <cheers>

Vydra's perm deal very close apparently - maybe before tomorrow night?

Although I do agree he's unlikely to start against Bristol City

apparently Nani and Duxbury have been at the hearing today, so things are unlikely to have changed since yesterday...weird that sky would report this today...but i do hope they're right!

Vydra looks a very decent player, but judging by his lack of starts I think he is a player thats need managing and Zola appears to know how to do it. IMO you lack the quality throughout the side to get top 2 but I reckon you lot will win the play offs

    Good luck <ok>

Thinking about the original question of this thread - "....best player to bless the Championship", I think that the only player who is qualified in any way to do that is currently playing in League 2 - Port Vale's Tom Pope. ;)

From a completely unbiased view, the current Watford FC side has too much quality for a Championship side. I have only managed to make it to a handful of games this season, but each time, I have mentioned some of the players just look too good to be in the Championship - Vydra being a prime example.

Watching that fourth goal against Huddersfield, it is hard to believe that only 6 months before, most of the players involved in that goal probably didn't even know where Watford was. To be able to slot in to such a "tough" league, and create such sublime movement is incredible. And to further add to that point, and prevent some of the cliché criticism that our current regime has generated, I haven't seen so much passion and devotion for the Watford FC badge in Daniel Pudil, Matej Vydra and Fernando Forestieri (to name a few) for a long time (well, since 1998).

Coming back to the purpose of this thread, Matej Vydra is probably the most complete striker I have seen in a Watford FC shirt. Pacey, skilful, intelligent, committed, with a great first touch and even better finishing touch. What more could you want?!

This is the big one for me - how they all seem to have settled at the club, and seem to have taken it to their heart. The spirit in the squad seems to be just as good at any other time. Seeming apparently all these players are in the 'shop window' for others to bid on, they seem to be gelling on and off the pitch so well.

I think it was Vydra's 2nd against Huddersfield or 'Boro that shows this!

Where else in the Championship can you play for, and learn from, such a legend that is Zola?!

agreed, the team spirit is remarkable...i don't think i've seen players kiss the badge before Forestieri and Vydra did...well..not our badge anyway! Love them, and hope the best ones stay!
