I applaud this and agree 100% with its sentiments. But if Twitter comments to or about football club owners are actually effective then I'm getting straight on there today and giving my opinion on that loser Abramovitch.
It great that the majority of fans are repulsed by the moronic slating of Fernandes on twitter or any other means. He's tried his best, but I have concerns about TF and the short-termism he is showing every six months with regard to the transfer policy adopted by the board which seems to be in response to the previous window when the same mistakes were made. I dont think he is learning and it worries me for the long term future of the club. However, I do like his attitude and he clearly cares about QPR, the fans and the local community but what I dont like is his constant use of twitter and other social media. I think he is very enthusiastic but also very naive and I wish he would just get on with the job at hand. The last two tweets he has sent out just seemed a bit immature and attention seeking. First he came out and said basically, if people dont like what I'm doing, then I will leave. Then after an influx of support, he says, oh well if everyone loves me, then ill stay! Please just get on with it Tony, you really shouldn't need to be told people want you by now. You can do great things for this club, even if we go down. He reminds me a bit of Mike Ashley when he used to sit with the fans and didnt really have a clue with 100s of yes men and other aides upstairs. He was a laughing stock, but he removed himself from the public eye and got on with his job, vastly improving the team in the process. Im no TF hater at all, i dont even use twitter or anything like that and cant believe football is important enough for some people to bash on at people they dont even know and offend them. but at the same time I do understand people who dare to criticize him, of whom are regularly shot down with insults on other 'hoops forums. I would just like him to realize that we are a small team, he cannot change us overnight like he might be able to another business, i wish he would relax his ambitions and let us grow into them, rather than being pulled up by our hair.
Of course there are things TF can improve upon Kampala - but that's up for discussion on detail as and when. This thread is about the headlines: VAST MAJORITY OF QPR FANS IMPLORE OWNERS TO IGNORE MORONS AND STAY PUT!
Let's try and put this straight - are we morons if we are distinctly disappointed at Tony's performance so far in his capacity as CEO of our beloved QPR? I would never, ever condone any abuse of anyone, anywhere - life's way too short and precious but it strikes me the detail is far more than just a few changes here or there! To me, he's just replicated Flavio - Please tell me you love me or else Im off!! Where did we here that before? Abuse and criticism are 2 different things - Or am I a moron for wanting my CEO to be far more professional?
Danish, I think that Yorkshire was giving a general message to Tony Re. the twitter thing, i dont think the 'moron' comment was related to my post, for which he gave a logical response to. Moron gets thrown about a lot when people do criticize TF though, its why i use this forum more than WATRB as this one seems to be more about football fans giving and listening to opinion than a boys club where anyone the old posters disagree with gets humiliated. 100% agree though, the twitter abuse is totally out of order. But then what is the chairman of a football team doing on twitter. The latest love me or I leave scenario was embarrassing. Redkapp has come out and said he shouldn't be using twitter, so I think he should just give it a rest, maybe come out after a win and say 'well done!' and keep the day to day things private. If he is seriously weighing up his £100m investment against the opinions of people on twitter, then Its no wonder how easily he was convinced to pay a fortune on the fools we now have playing for us.
Not only do I whole-heartedly not agree with those slating TF, I don't understand. His only mistake was in trusting Hughes but then so many of us did. It was hard enough to watch Ranger lose on Saturday but I can only imagine what it's like when you've invested millions. As long as he's still around we're in safe hands, and long may that continue.
Have one question for you - Did you ever see or hear of a rather rotund, orangey looking man with sunglasses once proclaim outside Loftus Road - "If people don't like me I'll sell this club, give me the names of who doesn't want me"? What's the difference between above and a CEO on Twitter stainting that he'll sell up if people don't want him? Cracking professionalism from both if you ask me!
Yes,yes Tony's ONLY mistake was Hughes - now where's that sand? If and I pray we get out of this mess, it will be Harry's escape not Tony's. At this critical juncture 4 days before the most vital transfer window closes to make this statement borders and is tantamount to either incompetence or .........
Well said everyone. There is loyalty amongst supporters and the board, I'm sure Tony doesn't want to see his investment go down any more than we do. He's brought some positivity to the club that we all love. As supporters, we should support the club and not look at individuals who have tried their hardest to bring success for all our benefit. We all want happy days, but a true test of faith is when faced with adversity. My only advice to Tony is to keep off Twitter for a while and wait for the disgruntled to disappear as they are not real supporters.
Points of information: 1. Tony Fernandes is Chairman. Phil Beard is CEO. 2. Whether naively or not, Fernandes has put his money where his mouth is. Briatore didn't. 3. Without Fernandes / the owners collectively providing additional funds, 'Arry wouldn't have a hope of saving us (he's said as much today). 4. 'Moron' refers to Twatter types actively abusing Fernandes, not fans simply opining on the whys and wherefores of his tenure.
Right. But who appointed HR in the first place? Didn't just show up here one day with a QPR tracksuit he bought in the sports shop on Goldhawk Road now, did he?
1. Pedanticity is not becoming - Even makes it worse if a Chairman of the Board is unproffesionally using Twitter and even worse if he's asking for a vote of confidence through it 4 days before the closure of the Transfer window. 2. Sorry, we certainly seemed to spend a fair bit on One Size, Vine, Ephrahim, Hill, Derry, Adel, Kenny, Akos, Paddy, HH, Smith, Faurln to name a few plus the many, many pay offs to the Managerial Teams. They obviously came at no cost. 3. If Fernandes had performed as a proper Chairman we wouldn't be in this mess. - Typical us we get money invested in us and we do everything we can to F it up! 4. If I had a choice of 100% Mittal with Amit running the show or Fernandes and whatever other silent partners he has, I know which one I'd go for.
He did his very best to screw that one up as well! It was only until Harry's agent starting to put the Ukraine story about that he got his finger out of his proverbial!!!
Danish – Whilst I don’t want to turn this thread into a sort of Flavio v Tony face-off, I do feel that the comparison you have made between the two is grossly unfair. Unlike Flavio, Tony’s comments about leaving were not driven by a sort of “if you criticise me then I’ll sell up”. Rather they were driven by a respect for the club and it’s fans. If he doesn’t feel that he is successfully taking the club forward, and that he has lost the support of the majority of fans, then the buck stops with him and he would reluctantly step aside. Flavio had an open contempt for the fans, mocking them for paying £20 and thinking that they had a right to have a say. He undermined every manager he had, he massively increased ticket prices, whilst occasionally sitting in the director’s box with a model on his arm. He wanted the place to be his little boutique where he could takes his dates to watch the game with a handful of high paying tourists. He only came into football because he had been banned from Formula One for race fixing, ordering one of his drivers to crash so that the safety car would come out to the advantage of his order driver. He disgraced that sport and brought disaster to that team (Benetton) which had to be disbanded. When he was first involved at QPR things were equally disastrous and we became a laughing stock as we went through a succession of failed managers. In order to avoid the “fit and proper person’s test” he took a back seat for a while, and he got lucky. Amit ran the club well and brought in Neil, and we had our most successful spell in decades. Then, when the heat was off he came back, pushed out Amit, and preceded to undermine Neil and provided no funds for squad strengthening. You couldn’t get a more different personality to Tony, who is the exact opposite. He is a guy that needs to be liked, that’s just the way he is. I think that you’re getting Flavio’s arrogance and vanity mixed up with Tony’s need to feel that he has the support of the fans.
I checked on the offish and it seems he doesn't have a public email address (odd for someone who believes in Twitter), therfore I used snail mail and wrote to: Loftus Road Stadium, South Africa Road, London, W12 7PJ.
