Surely not ? Steve Roberts ‏@stevo_roberts Now this would end in tears if this is allowed to happen #Galatasaray are 6/1 @SkyBet to sign Luciano #Becchio #lufc
Someone had better have a word in GFH ears before they make the most almighty blunder if that's the case. Surely with Haigh being a "lifelong" Leeds fan, he knows the history
Phew! LUFC Official ‏@LUFC NEWS STORY: Club feels it appropriate to confirm there has been no contact from Galatasaray regarding Luciano http://ow.ly/h9HcC #lufc
WJ did you see the previous statement that said "there has been contact from Galascum" But they took it down
Comments from LB's agent .... Wayne Gardiner ‏@mrwayneg Reaction from Becchio's agent now on the PA wire. Here are some of the key quotes. I proposed keeping Luciano at Leeds until 2017. But for a new contract, there has to be improvement. The offer made was insufficient. LB feels respect and love for the fans. He has the best intentions of staying. He is willing to give up more money to stay. It is my opinion that the new administration of Leeds United has not put in enough effort in their attempts to retain Luciano. Edit: from SSN: Leeds United have confirmed they have rejected a bid for top goalscorer Luciano Becchio from a foreign club and state there has been no contact from Turkish side Galatasaray. The Argentine striker, who has 18 months left to run on his current deal at Elland Road, handed in a transfer request on Thursday reportedly due to financial reasons. Leeds' highest paid player, Becchio, has scored 19 goals this season for Neil Warnock's side and has been offered a new three-and-a-half-year deal to stay with the Championship side. The Leeds boss earlier confirmed this deal would not be improved to keep the player at Elland Road and Becchio's agent says owners GFH are not making enough effort to keep his client, who he claims does not want to leave. Agent Horacio Rossi said: "Luciano is on a spectacular run of form at the moment and for that reason Leeds came to us at the moment that Europa League clubs declared their interest in Luciano. "As the club had declared that they would not accept any offer in this transfer window, I proposed to them the idea of extending Luciano's contract with Leeds until 2017 so that Luciano could end his career at the club. "But for a new contract, there has to be an improvement. The offer that they made to us was insufficient. We respect the club's efforts, but it isn't enough. "Leeds is like a home for Luciano. He feels respect and love for the club's fans. He has the best intentions of staying. He was willing to give up a lot of money to stay at Leeds. "Luciano has to think about his family. He has three children. He has to look for security for them. He is 29-years-old, not 25. He is only a footballer once. "Leeds say that Luciano is the most expensive player in their squad. They said on their website that he is the player who earns most but I don't know if this is true. It doesn't seem right to me. I don't know what (El-Hadji) Diouf, or (Ross) McCormack earn."
so basically he's a greedy **** n jog on for me hopefully a new striker will come in who promotes proper football rather than wack it to Becchio
This agent seems to have spoken to the agents for Beckford, Snodgrass, White, Kilkenny, Howson and Johnson. I'm sure they all said exactly the same - oh, it's their job, right? Football is all about buying and selling. Selling Becchio will not be the end of the world. Even getting relegated is not the end of the world - we got through it before. Going down the Pompey route may well be the end of the LUFC world. There's always a new star that comes through. I was pretty damned impressed with our teenage back four today, the midfield was dogged and determined with Varney and Brown magnificent, and the front two caused problems. We have great kids coming through, and Somma on the bench, with two good goalkeepers. And both SG and DOL are available.
Agreed. Would prefer him to stay, but the same way his production picked up when Jermaine Whats-his-name moved on so can McCormack's. As long as that happens and the funds get put back into the squad, not too fussed. At his age and the lifecycle of a footballer, a good time to maximize our return. Defence did do well with Byram and White really shutting down Bale and Lennon very effectively. But regarding LV, sorry, I must have seen a very different game. Granted a very well taken goal by LV, but he did not do much the rest of the game and could not even maintain simple possession in midfield during the last few minutes, giving up the ball twice!
Have to agree, I thought he was poor apart from his goal, I said to my mate when he scored it is probably the worse thing that could have happened as that will cement his place in the team for the next 6 games.
Hmmm ..... Phil Hay ‏@PhilHayYEP One unnamed Turkish club have bid three times for Becchio (all bids rejected). I'm told they're promising him serious money #lufc
Evidently you have agreed a fee with Brighton for Craig Mackail-Smith. Looks like Becchio is definately on his way.
