It shouldn't be us pointing this out to him, it should be Pards.

Have to agree. Off the field Pards, on the field Colo. Neither done their roles effectively with Santon or in general this season. He's a young lad and needs guidance.

Saying that some has to come from within too. I like Santon (still think he's a right back), I think he'll end up a class act, but that doesn't excuse him from criticism. I have a bloke who sits two seats along from me and he gets excited every time he bombs forward, crying "go on Santon". I just look at him and think "do you actually understand his role?".

I do think Pards has not covered himself in glory of late. The pressure has got to him and he has made some strange decisions. I still have faith in him but he needs to sort it out now because Ashley has given him every chance with an excellent window (did I really just say that?!) Colo has just taken his eye off the ball.

Santon is a must start unles we want him to leave for Milan - on occasions he's made errors but overall I'd be confident in saying he's been our best defender this season. If anyone needs dropping it's Jonas flaming Guitierez.

There's no doubting that Santon has class and with greater understanding in the team he'd be covered when he went on his forward runs.

Been saying it alot. Out Left side is to predictable, both him and Guti are Right footed to both likely to cut in which must make it so easy to defend against, need some versatility.

It's Jonas it's just Jonas bloody Gutierrez when he wasn't playing we were at least good going forward! Just get Marv or even elephantitis head on that side and we'll soon see.

Jonas has been a good servant but he just seems to have run himself into the ground.

To a point I'd agree but in the main its his job to defend that area or he is playing the wrong position. The likes of Tiote/Anita can cover a bit but he has the overriding responsibility which he ignores all too often. They just need to help him, he is young. I can see why Pards picks Jonas at times because playing a more attacking player down the left would be suicide.

I suppose he just thought of him as a work horse. Burn him out and then put him out to grass.

This is also so true. I'm fine with wingers who cut back as long as you have a left foot on the overlap. Having two right footed players on the left is so easy to deal with.

Simply not a reason to start him. He has to start performing in the role. If you pick him to avoid a transfer then its a slippery road.

Melissa Theuriau. In her pomp. French newscaster. I'd still bang the living daylights out of her.

Thanks I'm going to locate her, tell her I'm from Newcastle and she will then be unable to resist the lure of Newcastle and move in with me.

I think santon plays his role well. I'm guessing with the formation pardew plays , a 4231 he expects santon to bomb on and te holding midfielders to cover him, this doesn't happen. I think the problem lie with how pardew want us to play this season and players are confused and constantly caught out of position. Personally I think we play our best football with 3 upfront with Cisse down the middle. I don't understand why we play with 5 in midfield where we have a man extra ( most teams have 4 midfielders) and we just hoof the ball forward to shola for a knockdown. Sometimes pardew puzzles me with how our team is set out

I wonder what Mrs Assez Chaud Poche would say if she found out about that. Of course for a certain consideration she doesn't have to find out. <whistle>
