Possibly, but the FA Cup was famous worldwide and foreign players dreamed of playing at Wembley and scoring in the FA Cup final, lets not forget our own ossie and villa back in the day and also Jurgen in the 90's, which said a lot about the FA Cup, as I think foreigners admired us for having such a prestigious Cup Competition, as like you say in their countries it was a poor relation. Now, the FA Cup is being turned into a poor relation and going the same way.
uhm Turnbull and possibly Marin is the only one I'd attribute to resting players, but the latter got replaced early on by one of their best. All others have started against much better premier league teams home or away. Starters and the bench of all three teams shows they took it seriously. Saying after the fact that the competition isn't important could be a consolation to some (been there) but stop kidding yourselves.
"Not taking it seriously" looks a lot like Arsenal on the Carling Cup 3-4 seasons ago, where bar Djorou none of the players there barely had any Premiere League appearances. Liverpool going in with even 50% of their first 11 (was more) against an Oldham side that came to the game with this form: L-L-L-D-L-L-L-L, is taking it plenty serious IMO.
We should play our best team and go out to win the game, playing a weakened team sends out a message to the players that the manager isn't taking it serious and affects the overall team performance.
It's a bit different when your reserve players would get into every other team's first XI. You wouldn't want Hernandez then? Incidentally, I thought it was ironic that Liverpool didn't want Carroll, yet were undone today by a 6' 6" battering ram with a half decent first touch.
Did I hear chants from the spud fans of "you don't know what your doing" aimed at the tea-boy earlier?
I've received a private message from a Chelsea fan simply stating "Mugs." Has anybody else received it? I'm not bothering to answer it.
Maybe he wants to invite you around for a cup of tea, with a dose of racial abuse and a kick in the ribs if you get in his way. Go on thor, say yes!
Well there's no more Mister Nice Guy from me to the Chelsea supporters and their team from now on. Do you really want me to get a kick in the ribs Boss?
I'm looking for positive's, so it's just as well we didn't win,we would have to have gone to £ity,so wouldn't have gone any further probably, and now we can concentrate a bit more on finishing 4th
No tots I don't accept that at all and never have. I think that argument used by all who lose in the cup is a defence mechanism to hide their disappointment. Also the cup always produces surprises ie Luton so we would have stood a good chance of beating City. Teams have to go for all the trophies available because nobody knows what the future holds. Concentrating on 4th place means we don't concentrate on the Europa our only realistic chance now of a pot. I know where you're coming from but I don't accept it and that's nothing against you. That was Leeds' revenge on London so good luck to them. I've also received another PM from another fan stating it was his idea of humour but it failed. This fan isn't the one who posted the first one and like the first one I haven't a clue wtf he's blasting on about. As usual I'm going to ignore pms from all those except Spurs supporters. FFS let's get scoring again. We need a good good win against Norwich.
Don't think we would have any chance of beating City.Yes Luton caused a suprise, like a lot of giant killers they have something P/L don't have, desire.you will alway's get upset's with smaller team's but not so when P/L teams met.£ity are also very strong at home
We were 0-1 ahead against them weren't we and only needed to hold out so I think we would have stood a chance but nothing can be proved now can it? AVB in.
