What are your pet hates during the match apart from the obvious?

    1. People talking while you are trying to watch the match.
    2. Having to let people past halfway through a half.
    3. People who ask questions about who is who.
    4. The smell of pies/bovril.

Definitely those people who turn up 5 mins into a half and make everyone stand up to get to their seat then leave 5 mins before the end. Happens each half, same people every week.

Personally, the thing that I absolutely loathe the most is the appalling bad language that is used in front of the children at matches. There is no need for it whatsoever and is the reason why I won't take 'Uber Major' and 'Uber Minor' to games until they're a bit older. There is certainly no way I would take 'Little Miss Uber'.

I have been to matches where fathers stand up and bellow revolting four-letter worded tirades and linesmen and players whilst their kids have to sit there and hear it. It's plain horrible.

    Bunch of ****s.

It can be, Grif. But I don't want my 10-year old to hear that stuff.

I sit at the end of a row in PU where there are two blokes in the middle who always arrive after ko and always leave just before HT to get to the bar. As if that was not bad enough, there's a group of lads who are not very good at holding their beer in the row too.

Up and down a lot. Thoroughly annoying but I've made good mates around me so won't move for that reason.

Fair point. I duno, i like the fact football matches are a melting pot of people from all different walks of life. If there was no swearing, we'd likely be losing a large demographic of people who contribute a lot to the sport. It's a working class game ultimately, and the colourful language is just part and parcel of that. People swear in other aspects of their life if they're passionate about something, and football is no different. I think Matches are a place for everyone to let out their frustrations as well- where else is it seen as socially acceptable to bellow at the top of your lungs in public? All the cursing serves a cathartic purpose!

ps. the pies and bovril are intrinsic to the matchday experience!

When I used to go in the 70s and 80s I always found the crowd I was in were generally good-natured and a very witty bunch, some of the comments would crack me up and it was as much part of being at a match as watching the game. Sadly, it seems to be a much more antagonistic crowd in recent years and the joy of being amongst like-minded and 'local' supporters has changed spoiling the overall effect of being at a match.

I often pop down to Dulwich Hamlet in the Ryman Div One South, 2-300 for most games and many familiar faces with that dry humour that you just don't get at Loftus Road anymore, such a shame that progress in the modern era means your club often has to sell it's soul...

That mixed look of amusement and pity often seen on the faces of the other side's supporters.

1 - pissheads getting to the game 10 mins after ko, but all arriving 1 by 1 as they need a piss before ko, then they need another piss halfway through the 1st half, then they leave 1 by one 5 mins before HT to get some more pints, then come back 1 by 1 5 mins after the 2nd half KO (I like the people around me but Im going to have to move)
2 - kids constantly kicking the back of the seat non stop for the 90 mins.
3 - phantom farters, whole rows gag on the disgusting smell
4 - people who are there just to moan
5 - the morbidly obese ****er who sits the other side of the isle
    6 - us losing
7 - meeting away fans going to the game giving me loads of stick but never being on the same train on the way back after we beat them
8 - jobsworth stewards (mostly away ones) although all the ones at LR have been great, especially the one who high fived the guy who threw a ball at Coles head after the ref told him to remove him from the stadium.

Definitely the smell of those horrible 'Balti Pies. Not only do they smell like my kids nappy, they actually look like it as well (And of course my mate next to insists on having one every f****** week)

People who complain about people swearing at a football match. It's a football match for **** sake.

People who give you a tug to sit down when the team is attacking or about to take a corner.

Just realized I hate going to the football. Horrible smells, horrible results, useless players, fat men, thin men, naff pies, seats designed for anorexic midgets, replica shirts, not enough booze, too much booze, people arriving late, people leaving early, people not turning up at all, kicking kids, sweary kids, those blokes dressed up as cats, queuing to get in, queuing to get out.
I blame Mark Hughes, it was all great before him.
