Anyone think he'd be worth a shout, he's free & looking. Might take a while to get fit again but might be worth 6 months.
No fooking way, lazy bastard, and not very good either. If we were that desperate if sooner take a punt on a lower league youngster. I'd probably play Cullen ahead of him says it all.
Brucebones, you beat me to it, I was going to post this earlier, but was dj'ing, so thought I would wait til I got home. Bullshitman, you're talking bullshit, 183 goals in 361 appearances and he's a poacher as AJB was saying above. He would link well with Proschwitz and would feed well off Brady and hopefully Elmo. I would also go for Hutton if Elmo didnt come back.
He would be free so that would be a plus. But he wasnt that good in the MLS he even got released by Portland. When you are released by an MLS team you arnt worth your salary. He only had 7 goals in 26 games with 1 assist which is not impressive in this league, trust me as I am forced to watch MLS games. Boyd was tied as the 33rd highest scorrer in the mls. If we were going to take someone from the MLS and we are willing to spend we would want Wondolowski. In comparison Wondo had 27 goals in 32 games with 7 assists. We all know Keane is good right? Keane only had 16 goals in 28 games with 9 assists. No one would want Boyd over Keane would they? Well why take Boyd over Wando? I probably agree with bullshitman on this as Cullen could bag more than 7 goals in a season here.
He was hardly given a chance in the Championship, but 12 goals in 37 games isn't a bad record. And yes, he scored most of his goals in the SPL you're right, but you have to remember he was in a Rangers team that provided plenty of ammunition and he would score against the likes of Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday etc.. something we don't have!
Cheshire, 6 in 10 at Forest and he did ****e???? Simpson 11 in 61 at City??? Stats can be misleading???
Well considering I live in Glasgow, and my Dad has season tickets at Ibrox, so when I can't make City games, I go to Ibrox and have seen Boyd on numerous occasions, I maybe have a little more clue to his ability than you. He can do it, no doubt about it. And with the right supply in place, he'll score in the Championship. As I pointed out, 12 on 36, 1 in every 3 games, I would take that!
Well he hasnt played in Scotland recently has he. He played in the MLS and he is ****. For gods sake he got released by an MLS club. He was the 33rd leading scorer in the MLS. 33rd! How is the 33rd leading scorer in the MLS cut out for a top championship club?
Usually when we get Scottish strikers it doesn't work out, just what we don't need another Daryl Duffy
If we fail to bring in a striker by the end of the transfer window then I think Kris Boyd would be well worth a gamble depending on his wage demands. After a poor couple of seasons of late, signing him would be a risk, however he is exactly the sort of player we're lacking and quite frankly we don't have any better options in our squad.
I dont deny we need someone but if we are going for people from the MLS there are far better strikers here then Boyd. Far, far better strikers. Boyd had an 11% goal conversion rate. Wondo had a 21% cooper had a 21% sabario had a 19% keane had a 17% the list goes on, why would we want someone that would need almost twice the number of shots to score in comparison to the top strikers in the same league especially when mls strikers would go play in england in a heart beat
Because no one else will come here, he's free & also desperate, it's a match made in heaven, both desperate.
That isnt true though. MLS players will go to england. Wondo for instance has said this in about every interview he has given recently. He makes 4,000 pounds a week. It isnt like we couldnt pick people from the mls as playing in europe is something they all want to do. I am not saying we want mls strikers, just that boyd is a **** mls striker and if we wanted to go the mls route there are 32 other players, and more people picked in the draft that we would want before Boyd. When it comes to MLS players I feel that I have a good idea on them because I watch them so much. He is really not cut out for our league. He is a league 2 striker at best.
They may want to come to England but unfortunately they never seem to want to come to Hull! Same with a lot of players. This Wondo guy you go on about probably has dreams of playing for Man Utd, Liverpool etc or at the least against them.
When was the last time we tried to sign an mls striker? There are Americans who play in the chamiponship. You are right, they all want to play for Man Utd. Clearly when people picture playing they wont think Hull City AFC. Still, it is Europe and they would come. Often on here we talk about how big of an influence money is in the decision to go somewhere. Some MLS players make a lot of money. Those players that do are European players who teams signed to draw in fans, Beckham, Keane, Henry, Boyd, etc. Most MLS players make less money than Devitt does. If money is a factor then taking someone from a few thousand pounds a week to 10 or 12 thousand pounds a week would probably make all the difference.
