For Careers, Business, or even just private identities... is it worth the bother? OLM, Rick Skelton and BeverleyDJH (Hull City Fansite) come to mind. As I've become more involved in Sports Journalism, I tweet more and more about random aspects of football. To put it simply, any non-football fans that follow me get a load of crap about how useless Jakupovic is, and how many assists Theo Walcott has this season, whilst people that follow me purely for article links and football facts get a load of waffle about my private life. Not an overwhelmingly fascinating thread I know, but I don't exactly have a group of mates to ask who have ever even had to consider the possibility.
It is not that difficult to manage. Most twitter apps for your phone have options to have more than one account that you can easily switch between in you personal section. The only problem is getting word out and making sure that the right people are following the right feeds. You can always ask your followers and see what they think (unless, of course, they are all random bots like mine).
Hey, if you wanna keep me onside, you shouldn't insinuate any sort of insult towards me To be fair, I don't tweet anything particularly personally like "OMG MADE PASTA" uploads instagram picture... I tweet about random **** that happens that I find amusing, that's about it.
What I mean is, twitter is useful for if you're a celebrity or something. I use it to follow footy stuff. But if you want to just communicate with mates, it does nothing that Facebook doesn't, but has the added bonus of being a total ****ing mess.
I thought that when I first started using it - it's actually not bad when you get used to it. I mostly use it to tweet football and links to articles I've written but my followers will still get the odd piece of crap. You're my age, don't be so narrow-minded
I have been looking at starting a couple of business tweet accounts, but the problem is finding the time to actually construct meaningful tweets. I did a couple of test runs. Sample: February online sale, lots include selection of new Endevour and Whaly sports boats. February live sale, lots include Persian style rugs, restaurant and catering equipment. My problem is that's all there is to say, bit boring really.
Once you get used to Twitter, it's great, it's by far the fastest source of information nowadays. As long a you know who to follow, then it's entertaining and you generally avoid the moronic children who think it's hilarious to abuse celebrities. Though I've noticed I lose ten followers every time I post a tastless joke.
I have a personal one and did have a 'business' one too. Id do it, I used to have a sports site for my other account which was integrated with Facebook and was needed due to having 7k followers and contacts in the PL. It also helps with footballers too, we were followed and we interviewed players such as Shaun Wright Phillips, Asmir Begovic etc. I'd recommend it.
I follow alot to do with hull city and the music I like, it's useful for news just happening, also a few funny ones which entertain
that happened to me on facebook, youd think it was bloody me who took her , ive never even been to Portugal!
I have a Twitter just for following the news, wouldn't use it to post comments nobody wants to read like inane crap about TOWIE stars or what i had for tea like some people post on that site (a certain misfiring striker we shipped out to Tractorland)
