I get it was a poor performance but in the prem we've lost just once since the gooner match in November and that was away to everton...so where does the "it's the same people not performing" arguement come from? I'm gutted we're out of the FA Cup but it happens...we are currently 4th in the league which (if we are honest) NONE of us thought we would be after the first 3 matches of the season...so a little perspective is needed even if we are gutted
Here's a scary thought. What might the score have been f Becchio had played? That's my one and only dig - back to the naughty corner now
Lost in two cups to Norwich and Leeds, what a disgrace. Shame the management and players don't want to win a trophy half as much as the fans.
Probably less - his head wasn't in the game with all the transfer stuff. Did Leeds a favour with him not playing in fairness.
If Defoe's not injured and he's just been left out, then we've paid the price for an arrogant team selection and lack of depth. How teams like West Brom and Reading have significantly better options as back up for their strikers is beyond me, frankly. Even Leeds themselves have more choice in that position. Going to somewhere like Elland Road and not selecting a proper striker from the start is a big, unnecessary risk. We looked toothless and somewhat clueless through the middle for most of the game, despite having large amounts of possession in both halves. Bale and Lennon both caused them problems when they got on the ball, but there was nobody making runs into the box.
Leeds did what they were always going to do, hustled, counter attacked and took their chances. Saying that, the final whistle saved it from being 3-1. Obviously Spurs had a far superior side. I was surprised at Spurs lack of discipline. Bale gave unnecessary free kicks away 4 or 5 times on our left back White, whilst Varney and Diouf knew how to draw countless free kicks
Well, some of the players in there today were playing in order to rest others. - and rightly so. I wouldn't normally post this after a defeat, as it can often be seen as knee jerk. - but it's becoming a regular occurrence that we play badly and don't get a result when we use some of our more regular "benched" players. The difference in our performances are ridiculous and it's been like it all season IMO. I'm seriously concerned that these players will not be able to step up at the business end of the season, and I'm dreading injuries which would result in some of these players having to play regularly.
This goes back to squad depth - we have a great first XI - good enough for the top 4 easily I think. But once you consider the overall 25, our quality decreases hugely. It's difficult to balance - a team can't have 25 top players because then they get pee'd off as they're not playing consistently. But similarly, our situation of 11-15 great-good players and 10 guff players isn't so clever either.
I gave up watching to save the TV from some serious damage. What a pathetic, clueless performance! The least you can do is put up a fight, for christ's sake!..
I don't even think that it's about squad quality, today. Some of the players just didn't look up for it, which is about attitude and not ability. Our balance is definitely wrong and we lack options in some areas, but that was just a half-arsed performance. No fight.
Piskie ... are you seriously wumming us for losing to leeds...after bradford?????????? You either have no memory or no shame I can't really complain though...think I may have posted a comment or two on your board that night
Yep. Dont wanna go into this though Moorph - there's been enough of it on the transfer thread in recent days! It's been a long time since I've felt our bench was this weak though.
What on earth were we thinking getting rid of Kranjcar and Pienaar and signing Sigurdsson. He's a shadow of the player he was at Swansea last year, do you reckon Swansea might take him off our hands?
Calm down petal I was responding to PNP's question about whether any of the premier league teams are trying in this competition.
