...Coates, having already seen Wilson go to Hearts on loan and Carra in the twilight of his career what would be your prefered option:

Sign another full back to allow Kelly or Wisdom to cover the centre backs?

Sign another young centre back to develop behind Skrtel and Agger?

Sign an experienced centre back to pressure the first choice players?

Sign for more than one position this window?

Wait until summer as we've got enough cover?

Convert Wisdom to CB, I personally think he's good enough and arguably the same as Coates ability wise. Then save the money until the Summer. Unless perhaps this would be to fund the Coutinho deal?

  8. Rather Kelly moved over, save his body with less running up and down the line. Wisdom is a superb RB so leave him there, although theres nothing to say he can't cover both positions.

Good point I hadn't thought of it like that although if Coutinho is any good Downing might be the one who funds that (more likely to be in the summer obviously). I do like the idea of trying either Wisdom or Kelly at centre back, it might help alleviate Kellys injury problems if he isn't having to bomb up and down as a full back.

I'd be happy to keep him personally Dave but there's a thread for that **** <whistle> I could have left Coates out of the argument I suppose as we'll need to replace Carra soon anyway but you know I like to keep topics modern and topical <laugh>

Stick Kelly in CB. He is strong defender and is good on the ball.

Wisdom is a better Athlete so he can handle full back a bit better I feel.

Our owners will not allow us to sign experience. Especially if they will not be considered instant first teamers.

Rodgers better not plan a move for Ashley Williams.

I dont know his age. He just doesn't come across as the kind of person who would benefit the club.

I'd prefer to keep him. I think he would benefit from a loan move to a decent club where he'll get games. Yes he looked very off the pace against Macclesfield but thats because he hadn't played in a while. I mean look at Brad Jones, last year against Blackburn he looked very rusty, but some regular game time this year and now he looks like a solid keeper who will do a job. But if we were to sell him, then i'd like to see Kelly be converted to a CB (I say converted, he has played there many time before for Liverpool and England age groups). That way we have almost two-strings of a back 4:

1st string- Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique
2nd String- Wisdom, Kelly, Carragher, Robinson.

One thing I don't want to see if Flanagan back in-and-around the set up. I don't personally think he's good enough.

Bit strong! What's the difference between one set of no-marks and another? Anyway, the point was still valid.

I think I'd bring in a more experienced left back. I dont think I'd bring in a cb this year. Unless one of the first choice 2 left.
