If we don't go up this season it will be a battle to keep the likes of Chester and Aluko in the summer, might even have trouble keeping Quinn and Brady. If we don't start scoring goals we are going to start dropping down the table and I think we will struggle to stay in the play-off positions.
http://www.thisiscroydontoday.co.uk/story-17958488-detail/story.html? - IH: DJ Campbell won't be coming to us from Queens Park Rangers. Anonymous Agent ‏@anon_agentITK IH has pulled out of a move for DJ Campbell, he will join hull in the coming days. #hcafc #cpfc #qpr
Why did we waste much needed funds on a shocking midfielder when we didn't need to strengthen there. Id of much rather seen makenna in then him and of put the funds and wages towards a decent striker
I always thought the DJ Campbell interest was smoke and mirrors to hide our interest in another player. The trouble is as Rachael Anderson pointed out on Sky News yesterday if a club knows you are desperate the price of a player will go up - and this is the major issue with every club in the UK, Papa and his team approach club A "How much for player A" "X million" is the response, Club B approach club A and get quoted "X-Y million". So it is looking like we may be relying on Gedo's club to sell him - as if the quotes coming from the player are correct, he wants to come to Hull (as he's probably never watched say Kirsty and Phil slagging off Hull). And let's not be too negative about the play-offs or what will happen in the summer, as the season we were promoted what were we all saying and assuming. We have some good players, and a good manager and a good chairman.
Utter nonsense. ^^^^^^ this. Its not what Steve Bruce said or indicated at all. Of course DJ will have options. Then again after listening to Harry's post game interview DJ was one of many DQPR players who were pretty dire against MKD. Far too much knee jerking going on yet again. Aston Villa - Stoke City - Norwich City - DQPR - Fulham all bit the dust with AV-NC-DQPR all being shocks. Its the FA Cup and it happens.
Bruce (to Allam): Can I have £2m for a new striker Allam: Will he play with or instead of the £2m striker you bought in the last window Bruce: Erm, instead of Allam: Really? Bruce: Erm, yes Allam: [insert any meme face here]
Look we have not given up hope of signing DJ or anyone else but the players when you have a choice are in the driving seat. I don't think nothing will happen until Thursday and on that day each player will look at his options and get the best deal he can. The problem of course is unless you have a few back ups then you could miss out all together and there does not seem to be that many good forwards around
Considering the transfer window is still open there's a hell of a lot of panicing going on. We urgently need to get a couple of players in up front but we still have 4 days to make that happen. We could well be keeping our cards close to our chest at the moment and not giving anything away. Furthermore, to those criticising the signings of Meyler and Brady, it was quite a bit of money to spend, but if we ended up in a position with those two players like we have currently wth Elmo I'm pretty Bruce would get grief for not bringing them in.
Bruce said "I dont know where that one has come from yet?!!" Why would he say yet? Maybe he's planning to make a move and was shocked how anyone knows already? A move would make sense... 10 goals this season, power and pace and only 6 months left on his contract, meaning a smaller fee.
forget the fee. think of the cost of the whole deal. Austin will cost somebody around £15 million over 5 years at today's prices
Why is it same old story every bloody season, we can't get a decent striker in. Just once it would be nice to have some news that we've got a striker coming in, rather than a midfielder or defender
There is a post on our board linking us to him - not sure why we would want him - played against us for Wolves early doors this season and, whilst a fair player technically, looked considerably overweight ...
Get Morrison in on loan to partner Prozzy (2 big strikers up top) and watch them terrorise defences. Their hold up alone will give our midfield more opportunities on goal.
Hes quite a big bloke, remember him playing against us when he was at Plymouth and he was really sharp.
