Yesterday I moved from my normal seat in R block to join a friend who's sat in S block. We've always debated about who gets the best out of a matchday experience as my view is pretty terrible but the atmosphere up there is great. His view of the match is absolutely incredible but the atmosphere not so. Now I thought I had to deal with my fair share of arseholes in R block but christ alive I wonder why these people bother turning up. If you sit in S block I feel truly sorrry for you. The man sat directly behind me was one of the most irritating, clueless and downright moronic people I've ever had to be within 6 feet of. It was his abuse of Faurlin that really confused me. I thought as Rs fans we've always lived by the premise that if you're **** it's not a problem as long as you care about the club and always put the effort in. For Faurlin to be on the end of such abuse along with the likes of Park and Boswinga just shows how short peoples memorys are. Faurlin has been at the club for almost 4 years and for 2.5 of those he was arguably our best player. He was shoved back in the starting line up before he was fully fit and was rightly cut some slack for performances that weren't up to his usual high standards. But now it seems as if some fans are vilifying him for not being as good as he used to be. When he put a shot wide in the second half he beat the ground, not in frustration, but in genuine anger and embarrassment. You can tell that this is a player who wants nothing more to succeed at the club and at the point when he needs the fans and clubs backing more than ever people are turning on him. There is no doubt that Faurlin still has the potential to be a top class player. He's only 26 for christs sake! Then what really REALLY pissed me off. These same men who had no problem standing and swearing at the players attracting attention from everyone around don't even join in any supportive chants! It was only when "this is embarrassing" or "what a load of rubbish" started that there was even a muttering from those seated. The fact that people feel more comfortable shouting "you're ****" rather than "come on you Rs" speaks volumes about the state of the club at the moment. Furthermore "you're only here for the money". We cant have it both ways guys. We can't froth at the mouth over Granero, Cisse or Park for not earning their wage but pile praise on Cesar, Remy and Mbia. These players are all here for the same reason unfortunately and us as fans are on the one hand wanting them out of the club and on the other screaming for Tony Fernandes to splash the cash in these last four days of the transfer window. I felt embarrassed that these people are QPR "fans". Of course you have a right to boo and be angry at a **** performance but there's a line and standing up whenever a player comes close to the touchline just to swear at them is just pointless. If as a "fan" you think telling Anton Ferdinand that he's a "****ing comedian" over and over and over AND over again is going to help anyone I cant help but question your sanity and the point of you even being at Loftus Road. If that's what you want to do when coming to watch us play. Please stay at home.
The sad fact of the matter is that we have a HUGE amount of c**** who profess to be R's fans. We always have done and we probably always will.
There were a lot of tourists in S bloc yesterday...Some right idiots....thankfully a lot of them left very early...
Shouting and screaming at players is not something I condone, if you don't like what you see then leave. However, these players are paid big bucks to perform and we all want to see QPR do well, if players don't play well then people react differently each to his own, for me the guy shouting the abuse probably looked more embarrassing than the player he was slating. And I have a put a 1 in pr1ck just for you DT.
There were. My season ticket is in S block and I was sat in my usual seat yesterday. Quite a few season ticket holders weren't there and it was a strange atmosphere at times. I had a bloke sat next to me who I swear must have been on day release from a mental health facility! He moaned ALL first half and clearly knew very little about the players or football in general. Thankfully he left after their third goal. The atmosphere in S block is usually pretty good I find. Goldie sits a few seats behind and I'd be interested in his take on things.
The point is Madrid please! is that this understandable frustration directed to the players drains the very confidence of our players, any players ... it was the case yesterday. I agree there were a lot of tourists there yesterday and its my fault for this year having to pick and choose my seat as and when I able to go. This year and maybe next I have a lot of work and holidays lined up so can't justify a season ticket.
I never would shout at a QPR player in a negative way even thou Ferdinand and Park were not fit to wear the shirt yesterday. As for Faulin I agree he played really well for two years in the championship. My main concern is he never scored enough goals you expect 8 to 10 goals from a midfield player each season. In the premiership he had to up his game and score more goals, but he has done neither. Against Tottenham away this season he was outstanding, but one outstanding game is not good enough. There are many worse players than him at QPR at the moment but I an starting to wonder if he is a liability. There can be no sentiment in football if you want to be a successful club.
Redknapp himself dished out plenty of abuse in his post match comments so if he is entitled to do it while pulling down a huge salary I can't see how you can criticize fans who are paying for the dubious privilege of watching. These people actually turned up for the game yesterday unlike thousands of others so IMO that gives them the right to vent their spleen as they see fit. Its the bloody armchair supporters-cum-expert analysts that really get my goat TBH. Well done for being a true supporter though.
Surely these so called "tourists" shouldn't care much about the actual outcome of the game - aren't they non-partisan, just there for the footballing spectacle?
You are of course totally right ... it's was difficult to accept stuff yesterday let's hope we have better things to say Tuesday onwards
I agree that we have every right to be angry about it. It's not the outbursts that annoy me it's the constant moaning and abuse that poeple send towards select players. Obviously he scored an own goal but aside from that I thought Traore had an alright game. But whenever he came near to us people were screaming at him about how he was a disgrace. Nobody wins from that situation and it just acts as a further reason that some players might feel distanced from the club.
It sounds sickening Scotland. A totally counter- productive way of "supporting" your team - there is no 2 ways about that. Maybe another reason why it's hard for Harry to get in good players - why come to QPR if you going get that level of abuse if you aren't meeting some ars*holes on the terrraces expectation
There is a MASSIVE difference between showing your dissatisfaction with the team in a constructive and non abusive way, to the vile and disgusting abuse that you witnessed yesterday Scotland. Sadly it isn't a one off mate and is repeated week in, week out all around the ground.
Getting beat 4-2 at the hands of the champions is a world away from getting beat by MKD ( congrats to them btw).
I was in the lower loft with my dad, my 2 kids and my niece - my girls second ever game, my niece's first. For us, the special day of 3 generations being there together outweighed the disgraceful performance and disappointment at losing to lower league opposition. I spent much of the 90 looking along the row, enjoying seeing my dad loving the occasion, being there with his grand children for the 1st time. I was thinking of starting a thread about the atmosphere at loftus road, but my thoughts'll fit in here nicely. We often talk about how electrifying the noise can be and how being close to the pitch lets the passion spill out and let's us right in the opposition's faces, but I've got to say, and I don't really want to admit it, I am regularly very disappointed by the levels of volume that we produce. I don't buy the inevitable response of "give us something to shout about and we'll sing". I believe we have a job to do from the stands, and that is unconditional, from the off. We need to get up off our arses, get our hands in the air, clapping, pointing etc. Positivity from us equals better performance from our lot and will make the opposition back off. Our ground, we dominate, we call the shots. It's our club, it's in our interests. The thing that pissed me off most yesterday was when my girls were shouting come on you R's, we want three etc and the bloke in front had the front to turn round and give them a stare as if to say shut up. I accept that 3 young female voices can grate after a while, but theirs were the only vocals anywhere near us and I told him that and told them to carry on. Maybe a bit more input from others and their screams would have blended in.
Ive got a bloke behind me that does nothing but abuse Park, hes gutted if he does something good because it means he cant abuse him. If another player hits the ball 5 yards behind park, its Parks fault for not being there. Im glad I moved because I wouldnt have been able to handle it.
I would have moved to mate. I have never rated Park, but never gave him abuse at games and never would. Perhaps the abuse worked with Barton at the Pool game last season but it don't normally.
