Borini, Allen, Assaidi, Sahin - All been poor or not played so far so I'd say his signings have been poor so far rather than astute. Sturridge looks a good signing though and excited by the signing of Coutinho, should give us some much needed flair and goals from midfield. Midfield 3 of Coutinho,Lucas,Gerrard looks pretty tasty to me. I think he made some mistakes in the summer and got his priorities wrong but he seems to have worked out what the team is missing this window
I think the official part is the new part. If it helps anyone out........ Sturridge potential 84, Coutinho potential 87.
Just throwing this out there - I don't think he should slot straight in to our first team, Henderson has earned that spot for now. At 20 years old he's still very raw, but one of Rodgers best attributes is bringing in and developing young players, the lad is in sound hands. He was meant to be Inter's poster boy for the next 10 years, there biggest prospect (been reading the Inter forums), and they expected massive things from him. Coutinho and Sturridge, very good business for 20m (if you think we payed that for Downing ). It's a bold statement bringing both of them in, and more importantly, we've got the right deals for the right price.
Italian journo's saying Saints are about to make a bigger bid according to Inter , I don't believe any of it and still doubt we ever made a bid. The Italian media are worse then the English media and that's saying something.
Would make no sense that seeing as Southampton's first apparent bid was bigger than the one Liverpool have had accepted today. I don't for one minute believe that you are interested in Coutinho, I think Inter and Coutinho's agent are using the fact you have money and have a manager that got the best out of Coutinho at Espanyol to try and create an auction and raise his price. Desperate stuff really from them.
Yeah not for the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last. Thankfully it appears we haven't fallen for it (makes a refreshing change).
For once we were actually in a pretty strong negotiating position. I'll laugh my head off if someone beats Inter to signing Paulinho!
Very happy with this signing. He should be given time to adjust and develop as He is only 20 years old. But his potential is almost limitless...
Let's not write either of them off just yet mate. Henderson and Lucas spring to mind, Allen has shown some promise and Borini has just returned from a lengthy injury, let them find their feet!
