I think he said something about 2 and half years project with Mo Po. Four years to get all the youngsters in full cry (Busby Babe style, just need a Duncan Edwards), and after that expansion, but that is me reading between the lines. It is OK this hard nosed thing where he doesn't want to be loved and all that, but if fate decides to **** on him, he won't get any sympathy from us because we still won't like him. I know it's not a popularity contest but surely a bit of fan / management bonding wouldn't go amiss?

    Thanks for the link.
I think he comes across we'll, interesting accent, bit Italian, bit German and maybe a touch of Hampshire hog!

Maybe reading a bit too much into it but he says that we shouldn't get too attached to individuals, hope he's not preparing us for the departure of a club favourite. Please not Rickie!

Also interesting that he says that once he made the decision that a managerial change was required then that was the right time to make said change. Mo Po seems to have known he was taking the reigns several weeks ago at least. Inconsistent?

I think his point is that Poch firstly said he was preparing "for weeks"... then changed it to "a week" then Cortese says something different.

But it's beside the point really as anyone with a brain can see this has been going on for weeks, probably even months.

Yes, the same happens in the business world and its better to have a quick appointment than a vacuum for weeks.

However, fact remains Adkins was sacked in a brutal and probably unfair way. Also, the lack of thanks towards him and instant airbrushing from history shows a distinct lack of class & professionalism. As does pimping the interviews to the Sun and Jim White.

Cortese just can't do much right in some people's eyes. People react to this differently and some people can move on quicker; doesn't make them better or worse people.

Why you are saying that anyone with half a brain can see this has been going on for weeks or months I don't know. It seems everyone is now aware this has been going on for that long. What I don't get is why that is a problem. Whether you agree with the sacking or not, the fact that it has been going on for a long time is irrelevant really. If it had been going on for 3 days and then happened, you'd then be moaning that it was a rash deision and he hadn't thought about it or prepared for it.

CBK, putting your views on whether he should have been sacked or not, please tell me how you would have gone about doing it, from the moment you (hyperthetically) decided that was what needed to happen?

Jasper/CBK, a thanks went out in the original statement. You obviously don't think that was enough, so how do you think it should have been done, and how many times would it need to happen? I am just trying to make the point, that whether or not people agreed with the sacking, he was sacked becasue the man in charge felt he wasn't right to take us forward. Once that decision is made, it would be a little hypocritical to then put too big a praise on what he has done. They thanked him and moved on.

    Quote from the Sun interview:
"...he wants to execute chairman Nicola Cortese..."

    Interesting.

    But out of context!

CBK quote "However, fact remains Adkins was sacked in a brutal and probably unfair way" "Probably"? First you say he was, then you say he might have been, you know as much about it as the rest of us, the timing was strange the method is not really clear, just Press speculation and hearsay.
How about posting something cheerful for once, you may feel better about things. What do you think of Lallanas return, will he be better than ever, or has the the injury more serious consequences? Should we buy a back up, if so who for instance? Tell a joke or two, anything, as your misery is doing my head in and isn't really justified.

I'm not interested in hypothetical questions putting myself in Cortese's position. The only thing I would have done is keep Adkins as he was doing nothing wrong. If there were nagging doubts, then the end of the season would seem a more logical time to make a change.

I presume Poch and his agent were making it clear to Cortese that he had to offer him the job now or he would take another one. Understandable maybe, but again, that in itself proves this talk of "saints project" would have been equally applied if he took a job at another club.

Football people tell football fans, generally, what they want to hear.

I don't expect a fullsome thanks of Adkins everyday, but ONE page on the official site or in the programme and one thankyou in the only interview Cortese will probably make.... would it have hurt? No.

If you were hanging on my every word as you make out, then you can easily find hundreds of "positive" posts by myself on this forum.

I hope they meet with your approval. Because that's why I post things, to get your approval. You are somesort of hero in my eyes. Can we meet up and ****?

Precisely my point, it is only recently that you have suddenly become moribund and morose, I am just trying to bully you out of it, please lighten up and give us some of the old type rhetoric, it was much more acceptable.

This is not a Cortese type dictation, it is a pleading request, I can be a rotten little pleader sometimes.

Thanks CBK, you have answered my points. Your opening line tells me where you are at and there is nothing wrong with that. You wouldn't have sacked Adkins; fine, nor would I have, but that probably says more about why you or I are not chairman of a club. I can understand why it was done and don't see that Cortese has done anything wrong in the length of time surrounding it happening and the preparations.

As for the page of thanks, or the one "thanks" in his interview, then no... it wouldn't of hurt to do that. That's hardly an horrific crime though, just something that would have softened the blow of losing Adkins for those that haven't understood why, or not liked the decision.

I'm glad we don't have a chairman who fits the "Football people tell football fans, generally, what they want to hear", because that usually ends up with a load of bullshit or false promises that end up being broken.
