Consistent, persistent and resistant, still a man on a mission. All I ask of him is to meet us half way with the information we need, if only to undermine the conspiracy theorists. Still no real thank you for Nigel, that would help bring closure to the affair. He and MLT ought to meet, as a team they would be formidable.
Actually enjoyed it more the second time...although Cortese's English is excellent I found it hard to understand when half asleep He did say that sacking Nigel was difficult for him as well, but it was the right time. His point about how did ex-players think criticism of the club helped was born out by a new piece on the Echo site. They reported that ex-player Jim Steel went into the members only supporters club and was asked to leave by an employee as he was not a member. Not blaming Jim Steel, but the Echo took the chance to make an article out of nothing.
Not alot said we didn't know. I'm glad he said he hasn't met Le Tiss. He told me the same last January so that is consistent. He has cleverly thrown a doubt over MLTs credibility by saying he has never met him. Did anyone pick up the very subtle mention of keeping current young stars? If you want to believe the thread that suggested some players thought NA was weak tactically, then this could add some credence to that. Beddytare posted this week that he had heard that Sky bosses were not happy with MLT slagging off a Premier League chairman. If this is true, then I bet this is why this was encouraged to be done, because let's be frank, his saying he hasn't met MLT makes Matt now sound bitter and a little silly.
Matt Le Tissier (@mattletiss7) 27/01/2013 07:50 Oh and 2 blatant lies when speakin about me! I have met him and he has criticised me in past, accused me of askin for free tickets i recall He has responded on twitter. To be fair to MLT he has publicly requested a meeting with Nicola and some season ticket neutrals to clear the air
Looks like someone set their alarm to watch It is concerning that they disagree on whether they have met before! Not something I think MLT would lie about...
Well, they were both at the awards dinner in 2011, and if they were introduced one could say they had 'met'. If they've not had a conversation longer than a hand shake, one could say they hadn't met.
Depends on what is meant by met? Did they shake claws? Was it the same hour, same day, same place type meeting? It's about time they did meet on a level playing field because together they could make up a good team. If Cortese is only concerned with the future, the past has to be ditched.
Perhaps Cortese didn't recognise him, now that would be annoying Or Cortese doesn't count just being in the same room as meeting someone. I think Cortese made a general statement about ex-players wanting freebies without giving something back...whether he specifically named Matt I don't know. The thing is that I don't think Cortese cares which must be the thing that grates more with Matt and certainly grates with the Echo.
Oh dear Matt. The Sun printed that Cortese said MLT had asked for free tickets and then placed an apology in the newspaper as that was never actually said and the paper had inferred it.
Think there are more pressing matters to discuss than whether Cortese & Le Tiss have met. Not enough said about Adkins (and nothing about the backroom staff also sacked). I wouldn't be surprised if a couple more Reserve coaches left soon too. and where was the news about St Mary's being expanded to 85,000 ?!?!
Indeed. Tbf, it wasn't much of an interview. In 2010, the Beeb did 25 minutes, as we have all seen many times.
Also has to be said that Jim White is a massive bellend. A mate of Redknapp & Storie & many rumours suggesting that he assists agents by mentioning players on Sky etc. I will always remember him on Sky interviewing Peter Storie at the time he was being finally ousted from Pompey and saying live on air "good luck mate, football needs people like you". Cock.
We have talked about ambition and Cortese underlined it in this interview and more importantly the time scale. He wants to match the ambition of the players whose careers don't have the luxury of time. For me that's Cork, Schneiderlin & Lallana. Three players still in their early 20s, performing well this season and proving their premier league credentials, but in a couple of years just being in the premier league may not be enough for them and they'll want the challenge of Europe.
Expect he wants us to fill the stadium we've got first. The good thing for me is that I manage to get tickets when I want...I was afraid that I would struggle this season as I can only tend a few games. Selfish I know. p.s. I know you were joking.
