What's the point of teams like QPR entering the FA cup?

I will never go to another FA cup game involving Rangers. What a complete and utter, embarrassing waste of time and money!
Teams like QPR will always feel that they should concentrate on the league and will therefore play a second string side in what used to be a glamour cup competition. We left out arguably 9 players that will start against City. Whilst I understand the thinking behind this, surely we could have had Taarabt and co on the bench to bring on to try to restore some pride? This was demoralising crap and it will do us a lot more harm than the supposed good of resting so many players.

Of course the players who played today should have been good enough to beat a side from League 1, but the truth is they were slow, lacklustre and lacked any urgency or enthusiasm. Ben Haim and Traore are the only two who come out of that with any credit at all. Green looked a bag of nerves; Fabio was very ordinary; Ferdinand was shockingly bad; Granero was ok on the ball at times, but got caught in possession as usual (by a ****ing league 1 side!!) and never worked to pick players up; Faurlin looks a shadow of his former self and was terrible; Mackie ran and ran but looked technically worse than most of the MK players; Park was even worse than Ferdinand and that's saying something....truly shockingly bad; Bothroyd was his usual lazy self and was at fault for the 1st goal as he let their player run off him to put Traore under pressure; DJ was largely invisible (against a league 1 side!!) and Zamora looked like a carbon copy of Bothroyd when he came on.

I wouldn't want Park, Ferdinand or Bothroyd anywhere near the 25 man squad and anyone who thinks that Zamora will be our saviour have a rude awakening coming!

There was a large crowd there today and Harry really took the piss!! He also got the tactics wrong by playing Granero and Faurlin up against a 4-2-3-1 formation, but I can't be arsed to get into all of that. I think this performance will set us back, as the crowd were booing Park and cheering the opposition. I admit to being of a generation that always loved the FA cup, but this was simply a disgrace!!

No point us entering the competition!!

I think Col's point is that teams like us don't care about it, teams like Bradford will play their best team and get up for it when up against better opposition. We turned up today and from the kick-off it seemed we expected to walk all over them.

I've got to agree about not bothering going to an FA Cup game again, maybe if all us supporters voted with our feet they might get the message????

Col that was a mad game was it not?
I thought our team play was dreadful and can't pick out anyone the way you did as each player had good and bad points . You are right it's not worth getting into too much but Zamora has something about him that should help our play , Mackies run the ball for his chance was very good but no finish
    Onwards now to Tuesday

The FA cup used to be like this, remember when we got to the final? We were a division 2 team. Good luck to MKdons and Luton, the FA cup should be about teams like them. And its not so long since we were the underdogs - shame we never did any giant killing in our 15 years out of the limelight!

I'm gutted, I would have loved a good cup run as I'm sure most supporters would, getting into the 5th round for the first time in 16 years was well within our grasp today. Then it was one favourable draw and we'd be in the quarter-final, I still have vivid memories of our last one in 1990 against Liverpool.

What's the betting MK Dons get drawn against Luton in the next round????

As I said when we spoke at half time, Col, it really exposes the fact that the squad has no strength in depth. The perceived pedigree of the players we put out should have been enough to beat MK Dons, and certainly compete with them. Yet MKD were better in most areas of the pitch, harder working, more physical, more focused.

Agree the exceptions of Ben Haim and Traore to our awfulness - I also think DJ did ok, considering he had no service. And I'll forgive Zamora having just come back from injury.

When Faurlin and Granero play together, it doesn't work. They're too similar - we needed a Derry type enforcer. Frankly, I've given up with Granero and if we could recoup some money by selling him, I'd be in favour.

Park had the worst game I have seen him play for us - and that's saying something. If we have to rely on him in the first team, we f*cked.
I think it was Oslo who had a down on him from the word go. He was right!

I just hope we have some good news in the transfer market before next Friday...

No team in the bottom half of the table will risk putting out a full team in the Cup, they've all got one eye on the teams behind them. Problem is our squad is full of dead-beat deadwood. DT goes on about our best-ever squad, it may be on paper but on the pitch it is shyte...

It does give a chance to show what the second string players are capable of and in this case, god help us.

If we were mid table we would probably have fielded a full strength side, in which case we would have good chance of winning the competition. As it stands we have bigger fish to fry!

Don't agree. Even Arsenal played a much reduced side. Except they had Wilshire and Walcott on the bench to bring on and get them out of the ****! We didn't put our best player on the bench.

harry said on 94.9 that adel wasn't fit nor was remey & swp but hopefully be ok for tues & he would have played them if fit, my god i hope they are for tues, but saying that, that team should have had enough to see off dons, first half not too bad but the goals sunday league stuff, 9 changes & you can see why we need fresh blood & quick.

Blimey mate, of course I'm not!
Although if Taarabt was struggling then I don't think there was anyone else to put on the bench to make a real difference. Remy was struggling too I understand. Must say, I hadn't heard the Adel was injured. Christ, if he doesn't play Tuesday we are in the **** big time.

This is a criticism I have of many modern managers (who I feel are out of touch with the fans).

When Wigan, Barsnley, Luton, Middlesbrough, Huddersfield/Leicester, Reading and Blackburn are still in the competition all it takes is a home draw against one of those and you could be looking at a Quarter Final and from that stage, any team would fancy their chances of winning.

I doubt it, it doesn't matter elsewhere. We've been getting reduced attendances for it for years. In fact, before we got to the PL we even had Villa in a Cup game, the attendance was the lowest of the season up to that point (it stood out because when they announced it the Villa fans still sang we'd only come to watch them). We still put a crap side out every time.
