What's your assessment of the mood of the crowd after losing at home to the worst team in the league? Sorry, 2nd worst team in the League.
Weren't Pompey fans saying earlier this season that their "world famous atmosphere" at Fratton "Fortress" would lift their players despite all the off-field problems? I think Pompey have now got one of the worst home records in the entire Country, if not THE worst.
The problem for Pompey is that they keep having to change their players...you can't expect a bunch of strangers to grind out a result. Glad tomw got out safely...though the 5 min early means he has to go again.
And yet again, the folly of the PST and Pompey fans trying to keep alive a dead duck that is probably end up in non-league, where a Phoenix club could have started up in already with a clean-slate. But at least they had some new song-sheets in the Fratton End today, so not alls lost amongst the Westwood muppet brigade.
Actually, that chant (which I didn't hear) made me lol. As for the match we were unlucky, first few mins were dominated them then they scored from a free kick that never should have been. THe second goalwas due to our keeper, staying on his line when he should have come for it, as I was screaming. So what did you think of the stadium? Come on, you can't deny it was a good atmosphere especially after their second went in
Just got back. Missed the 3rd Hartlepool goal. I am not going back there anytime soon! Complete dump. Sorry PL and other Pompey fans, but that's my honest assessment of FP. Fairplay to the 50 or so Hartlepool fans for making that long journey. They got their reward.
Meh it's not the nicest looking stadium ever, but we play competitive(ish) football, not competitive architecture. What did you think of the atmosphere? Despite the result, I had fun in a manner of speaking, at least it was fun waving around my Portsmouth flag throughout the game like a lunatic (I was the only person I saw waving a flag, woo go me)
The atmosphere wasn't great, it was ok. But I was nearer the away fans than the end where that bloody drum was. The atmosphere improved when you scored as you would expect. And if it's any consolation. FP isn't the worst ground I've been to. Selhurst Park is worse!
At my end, right by the corner between the north stand and the Fratton End, it sounded great, particularly after Hartlepool scored. Though where your positioned does, in my experience, have a massive impact on how good you perceive the atmosphere to be. I noticed that in particular at Farnborough where there's about 20 fans who do most of the chanting, if you stand near them, you'll think "Golly this is a good atmosphere", stand on the other side of the ground and you'll think "Meh". It's the same with Portsmouth and, tbh, probably the same with Southampton too (or at least Southampton before you got in the Premier League).
This is probably true at a lot of grounds...I've heard criticism of noise at SMS, whereas it's not quiet in the Kingsland near the Northam end.
