http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/redknapp-players-had-a-chance-and-blew-it "Harry Redknapp said the humiliating FA Cup defeat at home to MK Dons proved QPR need to spend before the transfer deadline because some of his players cannot be relied upon. Redknapp left out a number of first-choice players but his line-up still included names with pedigree, such as Esteban Granero and a faded Ji-sung Park. Yet the League One outfit strolled to a 4-2 victory – a final scoreline which flattered Redknapp’s side. And the R’s boss said: “I gave them a chance because some of them have been knocking at my door saying they should play and with others I’ve been told they’re good players. Well I gave them a chance and they blew it. “You know what? It answers questions. Not for me – I knew the answers. But it maybe answers questions for those who didn’t know. “People think they should be playing and their agents think they should be getting a chance. Well they had their chance. “I’ve said all along we need to improve. That’s why I’ve traipsed all over Europe trying to sign players. “I’ll go home with the raving hump. I didn’t pick a team to lose, I picked a team that should have been able to beat MK Dons.” Rangers had chances in the first half, with Armand Traore and Jamie Mackie going close. But their shoddy defending was punished twice, putting the visitors firmly in control by the interval. “At half-time I couldn’t feel too upset with them,” said Redknapp. “I thought we played well in the first half but gave two diabolical goals away and found ourselves 2-0 down. “We came out second half, their third goal was offside but that’s no excuse, and the fourth was sloppy from us as well. “Their first two goals gave us a mountain to climb and we couldn’t climb it.”
Amusing typo from the official twitter feed too: "QPR FC HARRY: NO EXCUSES. DISGUSTING R's gaffer shares his views after FA Cup exit to MK Dons ... #QPR" http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/260113-harry-no-excuses.-disgusting-621042.aspx
Arry not happy but at least it lets them 'upstairs' know what they have to do. He said in press con the other day that 'the players coming in should be good enough and if not then we have a problem'.... Saying all that in some ways i am glad we are out of the cup because we all know sooner or later you will get ManU ManC Arse Chels and lose. It will also shut up the players who think they should be playing. Also we only lost to MK Franchise and they are not a real club in my eyes so im not too bothered. Trust Arry he will sort it out.
I presume Harry is talking about Green, Granero, Park and Ferdinand amongst some of those players. I thought all 4 today were a laughing stock and they should be ashamed of picking up there hefty wages. The sooner they are out of our great club the better because they have done nothing for our team today and generally all season. I thought MK Dons were ok today and that says it all that they managed to put 4 past us today. Im sure MK Dons as there 3,000 fans were singing "Can we play you every week" and Premiership your having a laugh" enjoyed their afternoon and couldnt believe how easy it was to thrash us. Our 2 consolation goals really did flatter us.
Yes but did some 40yr old sing "MK till i die" like last time? That cracked me up. As i said they are not a real club.
But I think IS happy. As he said, he allowed the players and their agents to prove it, and they blew it. He proved his point. I think he's happy that he can move forward with his own plans, now. Plus it helps us just focus on the league and use players he wants to use and get rid of the rest.
That's a very fair assessment Ellers. Better now than us thinking we had a squad worth turning to after the window had shut.
Last week, one of our number proclaimed loudly that Ferdinand was not as bad as some made out and that we have a pack mentality in rounding on certain players. Can't remember who it was and frankly it does not matter. The pack has identified the weak links in our squad some time ago. Not all are beyond redemption as shown by SWP's improvement in recent weeks. If they do what is expected of them, we have shown an appreciation of that improvement and the effort made. Harry is right. 8 first teamers were rested to let those clamouring for a place (as though they are entitled to it) show him what they could do. Some of them must not be given another chance. I was not there and only followed the game on the match thread. Ferdinand was clearly awful judging by the unanimous comments I have read but I would be interested in reading the honest verdicts on Park, Granero, Ale Faurlin, Bothroyd, Green and DJ Campbell. Zamora is excused for now as he was only ever going to get given a run out today to help his return to full match fitness. The chance to impress at least should surely have motivated some of them- if not for us then for any team that might be looking to acquire them. What has it shown Harry? That a decent CB is the absolute priority and that probably the ones who will now be rejected must be got rid of as soon as possible. Finally, what is going on with Luke Young? is he injured? In his very first interviews Harry told us all how much he liked the guy in his usual non-committal way yet he has not featured. At all.
That's all very well but the comments will not help create a happy environment with further loss of morale. I do get the 'glad we r out of cup so.conc on league' thing but i think better to have stuck to winning ways and forward momentum for team AND us. Just an opinion.
A bit like your fans and that 'Ball bloke'? Always easy to knock a team after a defeat or if the are going through a bad patch but then again at least i support that was getting more than 3000 10 years ago? Funny how people can jump on a 'band wagon' but desert when times are bad.
I understand your frustration but MK dons bless them didn't have to do much ... They came to sit but opportunities presented themselves by our disjointed display the players you mentioned are class players of that there is no doubt ... Anyone who thinks just show them the door and buy new ones depresses the **** out if me I just spent the afternoon in the presence of the most uneducated people regarding football ever Of course there is passion and desire I can't fault that but I seriously am worried about the support of our club Park was booed off and to be fair he was shocking in his decision making His running off the ball was top class and we won the ball back very quickly from the MKs yet once we had it the movement seemed to stop ... We moved better without the ball On three occasions we ran into each other ... Can't accept that we have crap players at all but collectively we were a real mess
Translates into. "You've made some bad investments, now give me a bucketload of cash to try and rectify it"
We have a great squad I disagree but if you play a squad you won't make a team ... Form confidence and team mesh is everything ... Faurlin fir example could slip straight into our current best team as could any of the players Park I guarantee you will feature in forthcoming games Even today say we were able to play a extra ten minutes again I believe we would of scored and without doubt won the game such was the impact of a goal or two but of course we had no time left ... Mackie movement for his chance was very classy and MK didn't even notice it but he couldn't finish I looking forward to reading the reports that praise MK because sorry but I can't see a team there . The focus should be on how disjointed we were Blame? If I had to blame anyone then I would blame the management for not sending those players out with a fire in their bellies Down to me I would always play my best team and use our squad to support that team not put out a team of good players that of course are on the edge of first team selection
